ed 3/5

wow, i can't believe that it is this late and no ed thread for the week.

anyway, i thought that tonight was a pretty good episode but not as good as last week (but that would hard to top). very little carol :(, although next week looks to solve that problem. the subplot with frankie was a bit predictable but i think that it was carried out well, all things considered. always good to see dr. jerome and seeing nancy put he and mike in their place at the end was good.

here's looking forward to next week!

Always great to see Dr. Walter Randolph Jerome trade barbs with Dr. Michaelaneglo Hieronymus Disestablishmentarianism Burton.

The Mark subplot was just a little too subtle . I can see how people with severe weight problems might be interested in gastric bypass surgery due to the results they see on the show, but no one is completely ignoring the risk.

High Five!

I loved it when Mike said, "Hey Frankie, high five!"

This was a good episode, even w/ the gastric bypass surgery subplot that was dragging things on. Instead of that subplot, why didn't they just do a public service announcement at the end?

The Dr. Burton and Dr. Jerome subplot was really great tonight. Those two have excellent chemistry and they go back and forth w/ the best of them. Throwing Nancy into the mix made things even better ("I made your letters an eighth of an inch bigger.")

At least a lot of us can get our Carol-fix next week. I like having Sabrina Lloyd on the show, but I need my Carol-fix, too.

Of all the cars Mark could have dreamed of fitting into, why and the hell would he want to fit into a Miatta? wtf?

Patman 03-06-03 08:57 AM

Good, but painful, episode on most fronts. Lot's of internal and external conflict between the 3 subplots.

When Dr. Jerome fakes being dead and gets Mike, that was classic.

Ed and Frankie can't go on working together.

Carol's face when she finds out that Ed slept with Frankie was priceless. But WTH did she expect, that Ed would just sit on the sidelines and pine for her forever? Puh-lease, get over yourself, Carol.

The subplot of the dangers of gastric-bypass surgery had all the subtleties of a rhino in a china shop.

Roto 03-06-03 09:02 AM

Most of it was pretty routine, but it was a good Episode for Mike. And how about Nancy taking charge? :D They actually had me nervous when Dr. Jerome was playing dead. I was almost as pissed off as Mike was about that one :)

Of course she did. But Ed spent enough time pining for her when she was dating Gordon. Sooner or later, he was going to hook up with Pixley. Er, wait, which show is this again?

das

Note the errie coincidence (or is it) that Tom Cavanagh played Howard, the guy who was on the date with Pixley.

I was just glad to see Diane back, and not Biff's kid, who is annoying.

If Peter Krause had played Leon, then I'd be there with ya. :)

Ed: "Her name is Frankie."
Mike: "Francie?"
Ed: "Frankie."
Mike: "Spell it for me."

That part was great - I loved how Ed subtley glance at Carol right after he said it to get her reaction, then just goes on eating. Her reaction was perfect.

Nancy: "I made your letters 1/8" bigger"
That whole take charge scene was great.

The Frankie-Ed scenes were painful but it looks like it all gets resolved next week.

I just LOVE this show, even though this week's episode was no where near as good as last weeks. Lucid dreaming, man!

Sadly, last night's episode was one of Ed's lowest. Here's hoping that the Friday night timeslot works better for our bowling alley lawyer.

I just don't understand why they can't get the viewers for this show, which is 10x better than most the other shows out there...

Good show. I thought that the Mike and Dr Jerome storyline was too forced. I like it when it plays as the background as opposed to having it have so much screen time, especially with Jim Gaffigan eating up way too much time.

Was that Dave Attell playing the guy who wanted to get married?

Yes

not a bad episode, but gotta be down to second-worse frankie episode imo. the hey frankie hi-five was excellent. as was her curtsey moment.

and to those people who said that whining and yelling for the creators to do something wouldn't work, ha. i know i am not the only one that loves frankie on the show, but it looks like the producers took the advice (and maybe the better than normal ratings) as a sign that she is worth the trouble. now the thing is will she last the season or maybe even make it into the next?

Gizmo 03-06-03 08:03 PM

I have serious doubts that ED will be back for next year. Looks like we will be watching are last few episodes...:-(

You know, I hope we never hear those "there's no quality television" morons ever again. They give us great shows like Once and Again and Ed, and not enough people watch them to satisfy the networks. But reality shows...woah, there's where the audience is! So much for any quality on the networks.

or Letterman's network, CBS, since his company (Worldwide Pants) is the producer.

Think happy thoughts people!

i wouldn't care what channel i have to watch it on, just as long it is still here!

Geofferson 03-09-03 03:47 PM

Finally got around to watching this episode. Pretty solid all-around. The look on Carol's face after Ed told the table he slept with Frankie said a thousand words.

Next week's episode should be a dandy.
