• Quoth Adrian •
das,
I have a life. I'm not like some people here who live in this thread (err forum). :)

I have nothing to offer in response to that comment but -rolleyes- Enjoy your movie ... das |
Simon simply went with the teeny-bopper factor when he picked Carmen (she's cute, young, blonde, nice rack) with a yodelling type of voice. Perhaps he was drunk. I don't think he's all that good a judge of vocal talent, but I think he's more into looks and packaging of "musical talent".
If I see Ruben with another "205" XXXXL jersey, I'm crossing him off the list. BTW, they should have told us the America's choice first (because everyone knew Clay was moving into the next round), and then hit the audience with Simon's bombshell/braindead pick of Carmen. |
My wishlist for the first 4 casualties of America Idol 2:
Rickey Charles Corey Carmen |
Looking at the list, I see once again there's great representation from the South. Depending where you draw the line, we have one from GA, one from AL, three from TN, one from NC, and two from the independent nation of Texas.
At this point, I find I have little to no interest in Carmen, Charles, Julia, or Kimberley. I know it sounds mean, but Julia just gives off this "trashy" vibe to me, and as powerful as Kimberley's voice is, she annoys me. I'm not particularly thrilled over Corey, Rickey, or Trenyce either, but I don't have any real negative feelings about them yet. In any case, I'll wait until they have a chance to really sing before reserving judgment on any of them. das |
How many theme shows can they come up with for 10 weeks plus the sing-off show at the end?
I'm looking forward to seeing how many are one-trick ponies and which ones are the real singers. |
Yeah, I'm sure some of these finalists will fall apart outside of their element.
I'm looking forward to another Big Band style night, but I'm definitely dreading the Ford Focus Cola-Cola Group Sing-a-longs. das |
I have the clip of Kelly Clarkson doing "Stuff Like That" from the Big Band night last season, and she just owns that style of vocals and presentation.

I was glad that Simon picked Carmen.
She is a different kind of singer, and I think it will be a better competition to have different singing styles represented. You can only have so many Whitney Houston style balladeers. I thought Carmen's song was bad, but I did like her voice and thought she had great stage presence. I was baffled at why the judges dissed her but praised Nasheka, who I thought was boring as hell. I was happy Simon gave Carmen a shot. I think it will be interesting hearing what she comes up every week (as long as she lasts). I gotta wonder who will be "voted off the island" first. It will all depend on what the first week's "theme" is and how good the contestants are at adapting their style week-to-week. I think only then we will see who are the one-trick ponies, and who has the talent to really shine. Personally, I think Clay will do really well. He has an amazing voice and he seems well-suited to singing various styles of music. I'm hoping he goes far. |
I laughed when they were showing the contestants at the Oliver Bean party and Clay made his ears look really really big. LOL!
Carmen should keep the straight hairdo because the curly pasta salad look is not appealing (to me). |
Am I the only one who thinks Carmen kind of looks like Buffy?
Every so often her facial expression would start to look a little like SMG. |
And she also looks a lot like "American Dreams" Brittany Snow

Umm...not to me. Carmen's lips are much fuller, and her eyes are less inviting than Brittany's.
(I can't believe I'm now watching American Dreams as well...) |
How does this show work from this point on? Who votes? How many people leave each week? When is the show on from now on?

Wow, so this goes for another 3 months? What do they do on each show? how long is each show (I assume one hour)?
So from here on out, the judges really don't do anything? |
With 11 weeks of shows, they should have the season finale at the very end of Sweeps in May. Nice way to stretch out the season for the entire month of May by including 2 more contestants at the last minute.

I think the reason Simon was so upset with the producers is because he was, in effect, forced to choose Carmen. I think everyone got together, was told Clay was America's pick. They then must have had a coin-toss type of situation, and Randy and Paula ended up getting to pick before Simon. Meaning Simon was left with a very poor pool to choose from. I frankly thought Carmen was one of the worst of the bunch, though she has an interesting tone to her voice. I think Simon was VERY upset because it makes him look bad to end up picking Carmen.

I really think the guys outshine the girls in this setup of 12.
I hoping Ruben and Clay go the furthest. |
What Simon did was definitely a bit low-class, calling out the Producers on camera; but the way Paula, Randy, and Seacrest kept kissing ass and then tried to FORCE Simon to apologize after the commercial was absolutely pathetic.

Didn't they eliminate two people (EJ and Jim) on the first "finals" show last year? I missed when they were booted, and I don't think I missed two shows...

Too bad Simon isn't professional enough to not let his "feeling down" affect his criticism of the contestants. The man lacks empathy and a heart.
