Buffy casting rumor ... SWEET JESUS, NO!!! (Spoilerish))

TVTome is reporting that Caleb, the fallen preacher and nemesis(?) for the final five episodes of Buffy has been cast.

They say it's going to be Sisqo.

The ****ty R&B singer.

If this is true, then what the holy hell is it with all of the flash-in-the-pan r&b singers being stunt cast into Buffy this season?

I mean, Christ, it just seems like a cheap and desperate way to get your show mentioned on the MTV news.

And what is Sisqo? 22 or 23 years old? What kind of weight does a 23 year old fallen preacher have?

If they had to stunt cast, couldn't they at least cast someone cool like Bruce Campbell or Christopher Lee?

Rypro 525 03-01-03 08:40 PM

Well they did hire Ashanti for an ealier episode.

MrX 03-01-03 10:11 PM

When you start casting people like Sisqo in your show, it's as good a time as any to call it quits.

It looks like it was a good idea afterall for SMG to get out now

bigjim25 03-01-03 10:18 PM

Maybe they can remake the Thong Song video with the females of Buffy <small>w/o</small> Dawn. :D

cooper2000 03-02-03 03:35 AM

I read that he was going to be on on one of the spoiler sites.
I hate stunt casting.
Ashanti was horrible. Lets hope he does better.

JTH182 03-02-03 07:16 AM

Bruce Campbell as Xander's father, lol... now that would be classic

Hey, I take offense at that!.......
Keep Dawn!

RaraFemina 03-02-03 10:27 AM

Bruce Campbell as Xanders Dad would be great! LOL

Sisqo? Come on...that is just stupid. A fallen preacher??Sisqo??? Is he even old enough to be a preacher? Ugggghhh, it's the final five episodes, you would think they could get someone better and more interesting for that!!

Dr. DVD 03-02-03 01:58 PM

Sisqo? SISIQO!?!?! WTF?!? :yack:

Talk about a way to cheapen the impact of your final season and make everyone ready for you to retire. :(

Last time I checked, Glory was a god and was in her '20s. :)

Ice T is now a somewhat respectable actor. When he was singing, there was no way I would have though that he could make it as an actor.

And of course Marky Mark (Mark Walhburg) is an actor.

Dr. DVD 03-03-03 12:57 PM

Ice T and Mark Wahlberg did become decent actors, but that was after their music careers had more or less faded and they needed to pursue other avenues.
Sisqo, last I checked, is still primarily in music and should stay there for the time being. Having him in such a prominent role as this makes it seem like they are either forcing him upon the viewers for publicity, or intentionally trying to cheapen the shows end run, maybe both.

(I hope that I got this spoiler tag thing right, even though this information is 6 months out of date and I don't know if it would be considered a spoiler, I have never used the tag before so sorry if it didn't work)

This brings to mind something I read on the IMDB site in the late summer/early fall which all evidence has been removed: [spoi1er]Bill Murray was going to play some evil lord character.[/spoi1er] I know I saw it then and thought "oh this is going to be fun" but when I looked more recently (in the last 2 months or so) any mention of this actor was gone.

maiana 03-03-03 02:45 PM

nope, didn't work, sorry. Remove above post if appropriate. Apologies once again for not getting the spoiler tag thing right.

MrX 03-03-03 02:50 PM

maiana,
you need to put a l instead of a 1 in spoiler

I never heard of the Bill Murray thing and Buffy is the only show I look for spoilers on so your not spoiling anything for anyone since odds are very good it's not true. IMDB is not a good source of info.

sjrab16 03-03-03 03:12 PM

Sisqo has actually been in about 5 movies (Some of them not out yet), and a couple of tv appearences. And since he has only had about 1 or 2 cds come out, I would have to say he has more experience acting then singing.

maiana 03-03-03 03:17 PM

thanks mr. x. I just copied exactly the tags on the spoiler thread and thought the 1 instead of the l was strange : )

Josh-da-man 03-03-03 05:44 PM

Regarding Bill Murray on Buffy -- for a while there were a lot of "fake" guest appearances showing up on the imdb listings for Buffy. This is/was probably one of them. Adam Sandler was another one.

Bell65 03-03-03 07:41 PM

ok,first of all, everyone around here needs to get their facts straight, and im aggravated by this so im real bitchy right now, first of all.Rypro 525, u did not have to put the ashanti claim in, as josh-da-man clearly mentioned that they had been hiring r and b stars already this season. secondly, u guys need to get your black rappers straight before u open your mouths, ice t, in all his glory could be considered a decent actor, i guess if u call movies directed by snoop dogg and starring big pun as any good, u are thinkin of ice cube. this news pisses me off

tasha99 03-03-03 09:21 PM

At spoilerslayer at least, this rumor is one that's not taken too seriously. It could be true, but as of this morning it wasn't confirmed.

I emailed Herc over at AICN who's is almost always right and he said it's true.

costanza187 03-04-03 05:28 AM

I would not take the rumor too seriously.

and by the way...Bruce Campbell as Xander's dad is the best idea ive heard in a long time!

Patman 03-04-03 09:18 AM

But they'd already used another actor as Xander's dad in "Hell's Bells" last season.

Have you not noticed what UPN's targeted audience is with shows like The Parkers, Abby and One on One. It was a tragedy when Buffy went from the WB to UPN.

Dr. DVD 03-04-03 10:27 AM

Who cares about another actor, Bruce Campbell ROCKS!!!!

(They could make him his long lost father or something.)
