Ed - 02/26/03

Terrific episode. Ed's been reading a book on lucid dreams, and spend the entire show in a dream where he's having fun, then trying to figure out which girl he'd rather be with, Carolyn or Frankie.

Lots of fun!

stevevt 02-26-03 07:57 PM

Incredible. In a good way.

I was dreading this episode, because I thought it was going to be one of those incredibly hokey stories that the writers use a dream to cop out of. Turns out this was one great episode. I laughed out loud several times, and the ending was great.

Orbi-Wan Techno 02-26-03 08:37 PM

"you're fired"
*smooch*
"you're rehired"
"I quit!"
*smooch*
"Can I have my job back now?"
"Not yet"
*smooch*

Loved it!

Gasspasser 02-26-03 09:00 PM

I have not watched this show in a long time and boy was it a good one to start up on again!

dolphinboy 02-26-03 09:06 PM

Great episode. Dealt with a lot of important issues and was really funny too.

Shirley is so great. She has 2 minutes an episode and she always steals her scenes.

US BOMBS CANADA! Hilarious. ;)

I so want to like Frankie and Ed. They seem to be a better couple and I also don't want Sabrina to leave the show.

But then there's Carol in that black dress. Oh my god!

I have a strange feeling that Taye Diggs is gonna show up in my dreams tonight.

kevin75 02-26-03 09:13 PM

the first five minutes, i was thinking that this wasn't going to be a very good show. wrong. that was one of the funniest hours in a long time and possibly one of the best 'ed's' ever. mike had so many good lines i lost count. when he couldn't kiss mindy, "what a load of crap!" or the chump line in the treehouse to 'little ed'. rotfl oh yeah, and then there was high school carol  and later on near the end of the dream, carol in black :drool:

part of me thinks that they will use that scene with ed and carol as a key point once frankie leaves, especially if the friday move doesn't bode well. (or even if it ratings do improve).

oh yeah, president stubbs and vice president mindy!

cineman 02-26-03 09:47 PM

WOW. All I have to say is, if this isn't the best episode of the series, it's definitely in the top 5.

ps. Hall and Oates rule.

lwhy? 02-26-03 10:07 PM

My favorite Ed ever. I liked high school Carol:drool:.

B.A. 02-26-03 10:10 PM

That was a great episode. I about died when Mike just started making out w/ Carol 'cause he just had to. They should be creative w/ episodes like this more often - it changes the pace of the show and it was just so freaking hilarious.

Great back-and-forth between Frankie and Ed during the closing sequence.

Me likes Carol in the black dress. "Schwing!"

(I had to pull the "Schwing" out of the closet and dust it off, it has been out of use far too long and tonight presented the perfect opportunity to use it once more!)

Charlie Goose 02-26-03 11:44 PM

"...and when I woke up, my giant marshmallow was gone." This was definitely Dr. Mike's best episode.

High school Carol was almost painful to look at, she was so beautiful. Then I saw her in the black dress. http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/zipper.gif

C'mon Friday night, you'd better be good to "Ed"! This show is so far beyond most shows, it needs to be saved.

http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk!

Roto 02-27-03 12:23 AM

High school Carol was very cute but I loved the black dress, and Nancy as Ginger from Gilligan's Island? Dear God! She finally settled the Ginger and Mary Anne debate for me! This is turning out to be a great season. For me, this one and the one two weeks ago when Stella came back were two of the best episodes they've ever done. This was definitely the best line ever for Eli. "A brother needs a spindle to get out of this Fahrvergnugen." rotfl

Now Ed needs to teach the lucid dreaming technique to Warren!

Patman 02-27-03 07:57 AM

Yup, loved this episode (though Ed's a boy scout because you can be so much naughtier in a lucid dream with very little repurcussions...)

dek 02-27-03 08:29 AM

Ed, can I put my collar down now?

Best.Ed.Ever. :)

Roto 02-27-03 09:58 AM

THat was probably my one issue with that episode. The upturned collar predates the mullet. But I guess it was Ed's dream so he made Mike as unfashionable as possible :D

I loved all the kissing as well. Ed kissing Nancy in front of Mike killed me!

JuryDuty 02-27-03 10:25 AM

DEFINATELY the BEST show in the series! I also was thinking it would be AWFUL given that "dream" shows usually are. But this is the best-handled one I've ever seen. GREAT stuff!!!!

From Mediaweek.com this morning:

"Earlier in the evening, although CBS's Star Search opened the night with a first-place 8.3/12 in the 8 p.m. half hour, Fox's American Idol (11.4/18) took the 8:30 p.m. time period with ease. Overall, Star Search averaged a still-solid 8.1/12 from 8-9 p.m.

"Elsewhere, ABC's My Wife and Kids and Fox's That'70s Show tied with a second-place 7.8/12 at 8 p.m. followed by NBC's soon-to-relocate Ed (7.2/11 from 8-9 p.m.)..."

Also...

"In a three-week test that could seal the fate of NBC's Ed, the three year-old dramedy will move to Friday at 9 p.m. ET beginning on March 21. If these final three episodes of Ed can't beat CBS's moderately successful Hack, the future could be murky for the critically acclaimed but limited appeal hour. In these same three weeks, Dateline will inherit Ed's current Wednesday 8 p.m. hour. As for Ed's Friday 8 p.m. lead-in, look for new reality series The Search For America's Most Talented Kid, which airs for four weeks beginning on March 21."

GREAT EPISODE! Looks like we get ANOTHER Sabrina Loyd episode as well! She was only suppose to be in 6 episodes, but next weeks is her 8th...

I'm betting they've discovered what most of us have been saying--we like Frankie better than Carol!!! It's a nice surprise, but I don't know WHERE that leaves Carol in the scheme of things.

Professor Frink 02-27-03 11:31 AM

There were so many great lines and moments that I don't even know where to begin! So I'll just sum it all up in one word:

Genius.

tofu 02-27-03 12:05 PM

Great episode. I can't remember when I laughed so much. The song and dance at the end of the dream was hilarious. Taye Diggs although underused was funny. Ah cha cha cha cha!!

TheEdge21 02-27-03 12:12 PM

"do the Irish jig!!"

WiccanPagan 02-27-03 02:39 PM

taye diggs was easily as hot as carol.

"even young taye diggs is hot"
"'what do you mean 10 cents? it is always 10 bucks.'
'yeah but i thought these guy would get a laugh out of it'"
glad to see lloyd coming back. these have been 6 out of 7 of the best episodes of ed ever. i think it was ep 3 for her that i ralphed on.
