On "M*A*S*H*", Asian character actors like Soon-Teck Oh, Mako, and Richard Lee-Sung, among others, played many different parts each.

There are probably a lot of evil twin double roles from soap operas but I wouldn't know anymore about those....

Some other Star trek ones:
Jon Frakes played Commander Riker and his brother or clone or something Thomas Riker? I think it was, he also appeared on DS9 as this character

Tim Russ played a vulcan(forgot name) on DS9 and then became Tuvok on Voyager

Brent Spiner played Data, Lore, Dr. Noonian Soong(sp?) and someone else on Nemesis (haven't seen it yet)

How about Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, two ACTORS playing the same ROLE...oooooh spooky....i'm done

There are lots of actors who have played various characters on the Star Trek shows.

One of thinking of is Robert Duncan McNeil. He played Tom Paris on Voyager but also played a nearly identical character with a different name on ST:TNG.
I'm w/ Milo: it would've been better for him to have played Locarno proper and not a more benign substitute. (If I've got some high-energy 50% Klingon lovin' from the likes of B'Elanna Torres...forgiveness from anyone else is a non-essential. )

Michelle Forbes played Dr. Timicin's daughter a year or two before her run as Ro Laren.

There are @ a dozen people who made double appearances in the original show: Barbara Babcock, Skip Homier, Morgan Woodward, Mark Lenard and (best of all) Diana Muldaur.

Seinfeld:

"The Keys" One of the cops that picks up Jerry And George after they call 911 at the phone booth to say the Kramer is not the Smog Strangler later plays a charachter named Jake Jarmel that dates Elaine. You remember he was in a car accident and she stopped for JuJu Bees?

Also you know Kate (Christa Miller) from Drew Carey? She was in an episode when George had an interview to work for a company that made ladies under garments. On his way out the building George feels the material of the woman (Christa Miller )next to him and she gets upset and ruins George's chance at getting the job. Later George dates this same woman in the Mackinaw peaches episode.

This is along the same vein, although it isn't the same show. John Mahoney played the role of Sy Flembeck, a jingle writer, in a 1992 episode of Cheers, when Kelsey Grammar was a member of the cast (Frasier Crane). A year later, he was introduced as Crane's father, Martin Crane, on Grammar's show Frasier.

It seems to be pretty standard on science fiction shows, I'd say it's because you can find very few actors who are willing to put up with the difficult requirements of some SF characters -- makeup, prosthetics, etc.

There are probably three dozen actors who have played multiple roles on the various Trek series. (Mark Lenard, Spock's father on TOS and TNG, also played a Klingon in ST-TMP and a Romulan on TOS.)

Same goes for Babylon 5. Kim Strauss and Mark Hendrickson played a number of alien roles. Wayne Alexander played Jack the Ripper, Lorien, a Drazi, and I think a couple others. And Julie Caitlin Brown played Na'Toth and came back as a human lawyer later.
