How many hours of tv do you watch a day?

How many hours of tv do you all watch a day? It is anywhere between 3-6 hours for me I usually watch at least three hours of primetime M-F. I watch close to five hours of primetime on tuesdays I have west coast channels. I am really curious as to how many hours das and Patman watch.

I miss WGN when it was WB Affiliate...I could catch WB programming 3 hours early. Now, they just air really bad movies.

I'm the type of person that like having the TV on at all times, so there's usually something to watch during every waking hour for me. That doesn't mean I always watch TV, but I watch much more television that I should on a daily basis.

That is so freaky....that's exactly what I was going to post. I get WGN here also and remember watching the WB shows three hours early. It was great back when Buffy was on the WB.

And I also like to have the TV on even though I don't watch it. For years I used to go to sleep with TV but recently I started turning it off because I found that the television was starting to influence my dreams.

If I could keep the TV off while doing homework, I'd be done within a few hours. Instead, it usually takes up a whole evening.

CNN pretty much all day in the background while i'm at home. Only the HD shows during primetime.

Amadeus 02-09-03 07:20 AM

Well not including dvd,

Weekdays about 3-5 hours
Weekends 6-10 hours

When i watch dvd of course it's less.

Sparrow 02-09-03 02:16 PM

On average - 1/2 hour :(

It is hard to believe that once in my life - I was a walking TV guide :)

I remember classic Made-For-TV movies that were great....I can't force myself to even attempt to watch them now - too cheesy (for the most part)

djones6746 02-09-03 02:18 PM

Anywhere from 3-4 hours....

Crazy Aoshi 02-09-03 02:43 PM

Not counting DVDs, weekdays, about 8 and a half hours a day. 8 hours at work and The Daily Show at home. I work for an ABC affiliate in master control, so I have to kinda keep an eye on what we're broadcasting, even if I don't "watch it" watch it. Most of my shift includes the amazingly beautiful Liz Cho, so it's all good. The rest is Jimmy Kimmel, our local news and GMA.

There's nothing I watch on weekends really, I get sick of TV.

LBPound 02-09-03 03:05 PM

About an hour a day, on average. Usually the 11 PM hour before I go to sleep.

Too much.

This used to be my statement...now all I do is work, so I maybe get to watch an hour a night at the most. Keeping busy with work though does distract me from the voices in my head which is the up side.

The Antipodean 02-09-03 04:27 PM

Between 1-2 hours. Some days none if there's nothing I want to see and/or no DVDs to watch. Never much more than 3. I read books. :D

From when I get home at 6PM till I go to sleep at 11PM the TV is on in my vicinity, I may not always be paying that close attention.

As for non-multitasking TV time, 1-2 hours a night.

Heat 02-09-03 07:46 PM

On average, and not counting DVDs, ~ 60 to 90 minutes.

My last year in college my roommates and I didn't even have a TV; the only time I missed it was during the Gulf War.

I have never had cable*, though I've had a satellite system since '97.

* OK, one year in college the cable was already turned on when we moved in, so I had cable for one year without paying for it. We just assumed the previous people had paid a year in advance. One of my roommates hooked up a descrambler, just in case the previous people had also paid for the premium stations but the cable company just forgot to turn them on. So yes, I am in my mid-30s and have never paid anything to the cable company (Dish Network & DirectTV, yes, but no cable companies).

Dacoops3 02-10-03 12:12 AM

Probably a good 3-6 hours a day, and I do sleep with the TV on and I always have the TV on. Out of the 3-6, probably only one hour or so is just dedicated watching, and the rest of the time I am watching TV while on DVD Talk or doing homework.
