Conceptual art from the aborted Buffy animated series

I haven't seen these. Apologies if they've been posted before, but conceptual art from the aborted Buffy animated series:

Why exactly was the animated series abandoned? I never heard.

Apparently the quality level was too high.

That's what usually kills most television shows these days.

Looks pretty cool.

Were any episodes ever created? Might we see some on DVD, like the Clerks Animated Series?

I always thought it would have been neat to have a sinlge episode be animated as part of some crazy curse (like the circumstances for the musical). Those animations look nice, but I always pictured Buffy being animated by Don Bluth for some reason.

I think this would have been a great cartoon. The sketches look great and it is a shame nothing became of them.

Actually, it was supposed to air on FOX, but FOX Kids was sold to ABC, and plans were scrapped.

Interesting art, it didn't match my idea of the characters, but it was still pretty good. Too bad it never amounted to anything.

I don't see any reason to do this considering it would have to be toned down and then again, the drama from the tv show would have to take back seat to the cartoon feeling of it. Not to mention, were would it fit on Fox kids?

Buffy looks good in most of those shots but in one she has the behind of J-Lo. Looks very strange.

All of them look really good except for Giles. He is way off IMHO.

Bummed there isn't any Spike. He is by far my favorite.

Looked very cool. People here would have hated it, though, since they were going to include Dawn. http://www.ericwight.com/portfolio/buffy011.html

But did they REALLY expect to sell a Saturday-morning cartoon to the networks by showing splattered blood and butt-cleavage? http://www.ericwight.com/portfolio/buffy003.html
