Penn and Teller's: ******** on Showtime....

This just premiered tonight. Anyone watch it? It was a great expose on psychics. They showed how guys like VanPrague and the biggest douche in the universe Edwards did their readings. Very cool concept for a show.

I would love to see it and record it. I'm a huge fan of debunking the psychic hoaxsters and Penn and Teller are great at it.

Unfortunately I don't get Showtime.

caught this last night and loved it. i too cant stand psychics either, they are low, insensitive pricks who feed off the dispaired! they should be exposed and i think P&T did a good job of it! i'll catch the next show but have already forgotten what it's about.

I might check it out. I can't stand their unfunny jokes in real life, or stupid little tricks, so I try to avoid the show, but eh .. I'll give it a shot.

I think I would have enjoyed this episode more had I NOT seen the Southpark episode where they expose this guy. But it was interesting.

Good stuff. As we've talked about on this forum before, there's no way Edwards is just cold reading without some editing help behind the scenes, and with those massive release forms, we're not likely to get much of a glimpse of all the misses that are cut out. Even though they couldn't get Edward, I really liked their attempt to show what a reading might actually be like and how it would be edited to seem more impressive. I also loved how they exposed that lady's publicist for bringing friends to the reading. What I don't get is why that lady let them film her readings and Q&A session before the readings. If I were scamming people, I sure as hell wouldn't give a camera crew access to the good stuff.

Best part of the show, IMO, was the humor and Penn's relentless hatred for these guys. I loved how he explained why he would call people "motherf***ers" and cry "bullsh*t" to avoid slandering them with accusations.

I wanted to see this show so much I had Showtime added to my digital cable yesterday and recorded it when it was repeated at midnight last night. I just watched it now.

This is such great stuff. I'm a charter subscriber to the Skeptical Inquirer magazine which started in 1975. I've met Penn & Teller (Teller talked) and Joe Nickell (whose main claim to fame is being the world's leading expert and debunker of the Shroud of Turin) who was featured on this show.

If this first show is any indication, it appears that these programs will be well researched and put together.

Next week: "alternative" medicine. Can't wait.

I caught the midnight replay last night, and I thought it was a well done show. I look forward to watching this regularly as long as it doesn't get rediculous (Although it is Showtime and Penn and Teller...so that would never happen).

As a P&T fan, I wish I had Showtime. But more to the point, as someone who is married to a woman who actually believes in John Edwards, I wish I could point her to something that exposes him for the sham he is.

The John Edwards thing is easy. It's called acting.

Man, I wish I got showtime... I see they are doing a show on the end of the world in a couple of weeks... I'd love to see that one.

It's just like my luck to cancel showtime after a year of not watching it and that same week they put out something worth watching.

Did anyone watch the one about the end of the world?

Man that was funny.

I lked when they went over Nostradamus' predictions, and the survival camp. Not to mention the guy wth the buried school buses.

I think I'll catch this every week

I don't think I've laughed so much during a half hour in a long time.

I really enjoyed seeing Hal Lindsey and the Left Behind guys getting bashed.

This show is great.

I know this show is supposed to be a little bit funny, but there are times when I laugh so hard I can't breathe. The UFO episode where the guy was saying that both George Bushes are reptillian-like aliens was hysterical. If only we would go beyond our five senses, we'd all see this.

I'm looking forward to tonight's show on second hand smoke and baby safety products. Should be a good one.

I just got both eps last night. I thought it was brilliant. While I know I will not agree 100% with everything they present [although it's damned close], it's great that they are able to present an actual case against where the subjects can make no case for each nights topic. Throw in the caustic banter of Penn and the comedic foiling of Teller and it's just about perfect.

Give me the all P&T: ********/Monster Garage channel and I will be the happiest man in America.
