Why doesn't ESPN Classic play FULL NFL games?

I guess this topic could be at home in either "Sports" or "TV", but since I'm asking about the network and not specifically the sport, that's why it's here.

So, why doesn't ESPN Classic play complete NFL games? All this week, they have plenty of half hour specials on all the Super Bowls. Why not play the entire game? Is this against the 'rules'? I would love to watch some old Bowl games!

Don't know for sure, but am 99% positive it has to do with the agreement they have with the NFL. The NFL doesn't tend to allow rebroadcasts of games, Boston was disallowed from re-airing the Super Bowl last year for example, but would rather have the NFL Films version of the games shown.

I would like to see the games too, but can't get to mad with the historical quality of NFL Films.

Because the entire three hours would be boring except for the most die-hard fans. There's no suspense to keep me interested in those sideline reports and injury timeouts.

I haven't watched ESPN Classic much, but when I have I remember most of the games regardless of sport being shortened.

They have a thing called NFL's Greatest Games on ESPN where they actually DO show the entire game. Every single play. The only difference is that it's edited so instead of after the play you seeing the players walk about to the huddle, it's a cut scene to the players lining up for the next play. And every now and then they cut to players/coaches from that actual game giving their accounts of what it was like. They did this for the Cleveland/Denver game of 87 in the playoffs.

They also have instant classic games replayed. I dunno for NFL, but the Miami/Ohio St Bowl game a few weeks back became an instant classic for ESPN and was re-broadcast in it's entirety the following week.
