'Mind of the Married Man' canceled
http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/TV/0...eut/index.html
I for one liked the show but oh well. At least the Wire is coming back. |
That's a shame. People seemed to have the expectation that this would be a "male Sex and the City," and since that's not at all what the show is about, I think it lost viewers early. I give HBO credit for at least giving it a chance with the second season. I do think there's an audience for this show, as it's very well done and quite insightful at times; however, I don't think there's much crossover between that audience and the one that watches The Sopranos and Oz.

Wow! First Arliss and now this?
There is a God. The show's first failing was trying to get us to believe that his hot British wife would even marry him in the first place. Doug |
I'm not all that sorrowful that this show was canned. I watch a handful, and I thought it was just blah. I always thought it was a little funny how these guys had these pretty wives and they continually sabotaged their relationships. Pretty silly stuff.

After next "season", whenever that actually is, no Sex and the City, no Sopranos. They'll still have 6FU, but beyond that, there's no big draw in their line-up. I don't think The Wire will ever catch on big time, it feels too much like a Showtime series. I wonder what they have waiting in the wings... And while we're at it: Why the he!! did you cancel both Chris Rock and Dennis Miller???!!!! |
I liked this show alot. It wasn't HBO's strongest show, but it definitely was on my list of "must watch TV". I am sad to see this go, while I cheer that they are finally killing Arliss.

I atually liked the show, but then they moved it to after Curb Your Enthusiasum, a show I absolutely hate. Once I shut the TV off, I never switched back to see this show. Oh well.

Damn it all to hell! Well, I guess I can delete this Tivo season pass. At least it ended with Jake getting his well-deserved comeuppance.

Oh well. Not to change the subject of this thread but I do think you are in the minority on this. Have you actually watch Curb Your Enthusiasum? It is one of the funniest shows on tv. I guess different stroke for different folks. |
Liked the first season, did not like the second season so I have mixed feelings about this. The last few episondes I wanted Micky to go on a rampage and smack his wife around cause she was annoying as all get out and go into the massage parlor and ravage his masuse. I know thats not PC but he was such a neuterd wuss the last season and his wife was just becoming evil....
End of rant. Still not sure how I feel about this cancelation. :( |
Being on after the genius of a show called "Curb Your Enthusiasm" was the only reason I watched even one show of Mind...
It seemed like a funny premise but the actor/comedian is horrible in it. The show seem to revolve around his guilt about cheating on his wife with all these hot women that are falling all over themselves to be with him when in real life, they wouldn't give him a sniff unless he had money. Sort of like an Eric Shaeffer movie. Bring back Chris Rock and Mr. Show! |
