The Shield

How about this to start the discussion:

The Shield. What the Sopranos should have been.

conscience 01-07-03 10:16 PM

I love this show. But I don't believe it would be the same without Chiklis. He is awesome. He makes the character. Also different from the Commish.

Very deserved of the Emmy he received earlier this year.

I can't wait to see what happens in the coming weeks.

TK-421 01-07-03 10:17 PM

Holy crap.. what an episode tonight.

This episode takes place 5 weeks after last season's finale. Acevada and Vic are still at each other's throats, and the trip to Mexico was interesting.

That takes a lot of balls for Vic to go into Mexico and grab a guy and go back out again, but I guess money and family motivate a guy like that.

Makes me wonder how they're gonna resolve the family issue in the next few episodes, and his relationship with Danny.

joshd2012 01-07-03 10:30 PM

The end of the episode where
Spoiler:
Acevada give Vic the go ahead to do whatever he wants
, that set the tone for the whole season. That dove thing was insane, but I saw it coming.

Heat 01-07-03 10:38 PM

I saw the episode tonight, first time I've watched the show. Very good, I will try to catch it on a regular basis. Is it always on Tuesday nights?

As for Chiklas, it took me a minute but then I recognized him (formerly from The Commish). He does a very good job in this series.

Very good opener tonight. Shane is such a goof, its a guily pleasure to watch Vic chew him out for doing stupid stuff :D hopefully more stupid stuff from Shane is on the way this season. David and Vic forging an alliance is VERY interesting, hopefully they will push it to where, by the end of the season, they are at each others throats once again.

Damn, what a great show (I too am a first time viewer). The Mexico scene was great..."Go get some guns!...How?...It's Tiawana, be creative."

Buck Turgidson 01-07-03 11:52 PM

Wow.

That takes stones to write.

Oh, and you're right.

Shane s DA MAN! I love those stupid expressions on his face all the time. I think one of my favortie episodes from last season was were he pretended to train chickens for cockfighting.

Groucho 01-08-03 08:31 AM

Here's what I don't understand: they can't hold the guy because they have nothing to charge him with. Uh, what about the rape of the first girl with the dove tattoo?

El Gray 01-08-03 09:09 AM

I guess she was as scared of him as the little girl's family was, Grouch. She may not have been willing to press charges.

If you're not using spoiler tags in the thread, you should put a spoiler warning in the title.

Heat 01-08-03 02:40 PM

Who was the girl at the end?

I thought there was a line from CCH Pounder that said something to that effect. The blonde was a lil hottie tho

I am also a first time viewer, and think the series is great. Good to see a great series on FX, and on TV in general. I bought season one blind and now I see that purchase was not in vain.

Boot 01-08-03 09:08 PM

Awesome season opener. Gives me hope that the second season will be as good as the first, if not better.

Did you see the ad for another FX original, something about a gambler? (can't remember the name.) That looked interesting as well. If FX keeps putting out series like these, it should become serious competition forthe snoozing networks.

Groucho 01-09-03 07:46 AM

Shame that "The Bachelorette" is generating more posts in the forum than this show. :(

My Tivo cut off right when
Spoiler:
Vic and Aceveda were at Vic's place, going back and forth with "I can't trust you" bit, and finally with "We have a deal". Did I miss anything else in the final few seconds?

Brewc 01-09-03 09:40 AM

damn i forgot about it being on, when is it being rerun?

No, that pretty much was the whole point of that scene.

MrX 01-12-03 10:51 PM

Ijust watched the rerun tonight thanks to my vcr screwing up Tuesday. That was a great way to open the season.

The trip to Mexico was great. I thought they'd go back to where the robbery happened now that they had guns and deal with that situation.

The thing with the little girl was sad. I'm sure Quintaro will be around for awhile and face off with Vic towards the end. I wonder if this is going to affect Dutch at all since he's the one who had the girl come in.

Next weeks ep looks good also.

Creek Rat 01-13-03 06:41 PM

Thanks for the spoiler tag whoever! I started the tread and then flaked out. I missed all the good posts.

SiberianLlama 01-14-03 12:05 AM

This was a great show! I managed to catch up on the first season with the week long marathon. The more I watch it, the better it gets. Can't wait for next weeks episode.

Oh, and the commercial for that gambler show starring John Corbet looked pretty interesting as well.
