Friends 12.12.2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 19....
Wheeeee
I love clip shows -rolleyes- but seriously folks, i think friends is one of the rare exceptions of a clip show i actually enjoy watching, I just hate NBC and their fasicist commercials touting new shows with 90% old stuff At least remaster or it, restore the color, give me something anywho you may return to your lives, mind the gap! |
I personally found this episode to be without a doubt, the worst episode possible. With the consideration of Friends being repeat on WB and TBS, seeing these clip shows felt like watching the repeats on WB and TBS. Worst of all, NBC shouldn't call that all new at all!! If anything, should be repeat!!
Granted the repeats are somewhat funny at times, but come on, all new, should be all new not partially new!! :( |
Originally posted by SuperJim88 I personally found this episode to be without a doubt, the worst episode possible. Clip shows are routine. I'm sure it saves the network or production company money, and pushes them closer to that "100 episode" mark. (which Friends already reached, but whatever.) Very few shows don't ever air clip shows. You don't like it, change the channel. You can live without catching that one episode. I agree that they are irritating, but it's the holiday season, so I would either expect a repeat or a clip show, which are essentially the same thing. I've gotten used to it already. |
That was the first time I've ever say that about friends. BTW, I did changed the channel once I notice that this episode was clip show.
|
I enjoyed it. Friends are my only Friends. :( ;)
|
granted it's a sitcom, but there's no way he'd get back to NY that fast on Christmas Eve
|

I enjoyed it. It's obviously not as good as a complete new show, but it's better than a full blown repeat.
|
Who played the office chick who wanted to bang the Chan-man?
She looked familiar. |
It was Selma Blair.....of Cruel Intentions fame (or Zoe, Duncan, Jack, and Jane fame....oh, wait, no fame there!)
|
Do they get a million dollars each for a clip show?
|
Well, since NBC defined that episode as "all-new" then I believe yes, they all got a million for that clip show. :( :(
|
I expected this to suck...but for a "clip show" it was surprisingly devoid of clips....there were only two montages that i saw...not bad at all....It's still funnier than 90% of the sitcoms out there.....
|
Nothing greatly entertaining or funny on this episode, but it was better than a rerun (sort of).
|
Okay, while this may have been a clip show, I think you all may be underestimating the episode's importance...
Now that Chandler needs to find a new job and Monica has this new higher paying one, she's going to "let" him stay home and finally try to become a writer like he's always wanted... He's going to write a hit movie/sitcom that is going to finally give Joey his big break... meanwhile Monica gets pregnant, Ross and Rachel get married, and Phoebe, well who knows lol! Anyway, I have no idea, that's just my idea as to how they could wrap up the show next season. It's just a guess, for all I know I could be WAY off. I still think it would be funny if in the last episode we find out Joey and Phoebe are getting engaged, and when everyone asks them how it happened Phoebe says "We've been going out for the past 8 years, I can't believe you didn't notice!" Hehe, kinda dumb I guess, but I like it. I'm sure they could find a way to cover up all their other relationships. |
Well this episode, while amusing to me, shows one thing quite plainly... the writers are completely incapable of writing funny stuff for Chandler and Monica now that they are married.
The clips showing pre-marriage stuff was 10 times funnier than anything either character has really had since. It seems ALSO that the writers KNOW this and wrote Chandler off to Oklahoma to split them up a little and give them independant storylines (which still left them with non-amusing plots). So now Chandler is back AND unemployed. They better change that fast if they want Monica to get pregnant by season's/series' end. (Wasn't that supposed to be M&C's big plotline for this season?) Anyway - at least last night's episode had MINIMAL Ross which is never a bad thing. |
Agreed on the last post. Sad that that was the only plot last night as well.
Ya know, I watch the reruns and all the new ones and they have(last couple of years) just turned Ross into a whiny little girl. Sometimes funny, often times annoying. ;) |
I kinda like clip shows and this one wasn't bad at all. The clip of Chandler and Joey buying gifts for the Friends at the gas station and handing out them out is always funny.
|
They need to get Joey fired from Days of Our Lives so they can hang out all day. Monica can come home and yell at them to go out and get a job. :)
I also hated the pairing of Monica and Chandler. Chandler was usually my favorite character, now he's just Monica's husband. He can't make a joke in front of her because she's too neurotic and he's too whipped. |
So...nobody would go for Selma and then fly home to NY?
|
I actually have always loved the Chandler and Monica relationship. I always thought it was way better than the Ross/Rachel thing. However, once they got married, their story simply ended. Chandler finally grew up and became a mature individual which just isn't all that funny to watch.
In other words, the show should have ended a year ago. |
He's a very happily married man, so he doesn't feel the need to dip his pen in corporate ink, I had no problem with that (No offense to Selma Blair, who looks pretty damn good).
I'm pretty dissapointed that they had Chandler quit his job. His career was the only one I could relate to (I work as an accountant for a big financial institution), and making sacrifices are part of the career (Working on Christmas and New Year's is extreme though). For him to throw it away, after giving up his life's saving for the wedding, is pretty extreme. I would have to say that Chandler Bing is making a run at Doug Christie's title of "Most Whipped Man in America". |
It's like post padding.
*ahem* |
For a clip show, it was definitely better than most -- and they actually moved the "plot" forward with Chandler's decision at the end, so I don't feel like I wasted too much time by watching it. I guess we won't get another new one until 2003, tho... :(
|
My question is, do these rich actors get there full salaries when they dont even have to work full time for an episode?
Sheesh. |
