Firefly 12/06/02

OMG! Never have I seen an hour of TV where they mixed so much LOL funny stuff in the face of torture and profit!

The whole torture scene with Wash and Malcolm just flat out funny as hell.

River's got mad skills with a pistol.

Jayne having to go back to his cabin after seeing Inari's hook-up was quite humorous.

Plus, the characterizations, showing Kaylee's flight impulse get the best of her, Book's resolve in conflict, Simon's philosophical conflict with such a venture, and Wash growing a pair.

Wow, 3 separate Firefly threads all started at the same time. Quite impressive.

Well, I'd delete mine, but people have already posted in it, so I can't. Maybe a mod can combine them. No biggie.

Great episode!

I deleted mine. Here was my post:

OK, where has that been all season? I know we are finally starting to really learn the characters a bit better, but that was the first show that really caught my interest. The last episode or two were starting to get better after a confusing start (probably due to the order switchup), but this episode finally got my interest.

Now we know River was being worked on by the Blue Hands to create a bad ass

What was Jayne's line? "I'll be in my bunk" That cracked me up.

Loved it...best hour of tv i've seen a long time.

It was great how it managed to be both intense and comedic at the same time.

"This is something the capitain's got to do for himself."

"No its not!"

I think Jayne had to go "relieve" himself whenever he got to thinking about the hot lesbo action going on in the companion shuttle.

Great episode. I keep liking this show more and more. Here's hoping Fox doesn't do anything stupid to take it off the air.

I think I heard the line "Nothing in the 'verse can touch me." twice tonight. The second was after River took out the 3 guys without looking... anyone remember what the context was the first time it was said? It's bugging me for some reason.

One of the best episodes that they have shown, imo. By the way, was this the first ep in awhile? I can't remember seeing one for some time..

The torture scene was hilarious - I really liked how they played that one out between Mal and Wash.

River was actually pretty cool for a minute - feel like we will be finding out more and more how the gov't tuned her up for a certain profession probably.

Shepherd was a badass before his conversion the life of the faithful...

I guess we will be seeing the sadistic old mobster w/ the bad accent again...oh well, it could be worse - let's hope the eps/writing keep improving.

Great episode, great show.

Kaylee said "Nothing in the 'verse can touch me" after she recovered her apple from River. Then River said it back to her at the end, when she took out the 3 guys.

That was an excellent episode. I feel bad for the people who are missing out on the best new show on TV this year. A really cool personal touch to the show was Kaylee's 'natural' reaction to a gun fight. They kept it real.

Its only getting better, Firefly rules!

I'm definitely with you guys on this episode - it was so good I broke my own self-imposed no tv talk during the fall season rule, lol. I sincerely hope Firefly gets a real chance - this episode kicked some serious ass and I for one would love to see several more seasons like this.

Hilarious episode! One of the best in a long time. I'm really hoping we get some back story on Shepard sooner or later (the whole Bible is fuzzy on kneecaps was hilarious). Great mixture of action, comedy, and drama what the hell else does FOX want from this show? Okay aside from better ratings that is

mine was at 8:59

deleted now, here's what I wrote

well I forgot to tape it so I only caught the last 30 minutes or so
pretty good episode, I liked the conversation between the captain and the pilot while they
Spoiler:
were being shocked

and they're definitely using "laser" sound effects for the firearms

"No -- this is something the captain has to do for himself."
"No! No I don't!"

That and River's 3 headshots!

But they do need to cut back on all the Chinese. It's pretty excessive, and was notably so in this episode.

I didn't quite understand Wash's Chinese (except for the last bit of "pee-goo" which means "butt") and then whatever he or Malcom said when they got ambushed, but it loosely meant "Oh no" or "oh shiite!"

And most people understand "gorram"

Finally got around to watching this episode on tape, and of course I was not disappointed which seems to be the consensus in the thread. So if I understand correctly they left the old guy alive at the end? Was there a reason for that? That chest sucking thing was pretty vicious looking, and a nice little Reservoir Dogs moment to boot.
I especially love part of the last scene.
Dr to Malcolm "Just don't pick at it."
Malcolm starts playing with it.
Classic.

Plain and simple this show rocks!

It is the most entertaining hour of tv out there I originally tuned in on this show because it preceded John Doe and like someone else said in the J.D. thread I now watch Firefly and could really care less about J.D. it has gotten worsr while Firefly has only gotten better.
