Muppet Christmas Special.
It's one NBC at 8 on friday.
Now watching it.. WTF? It sure doesn't feel like an old muppet special. Where's the classic characters? Who cares about this little shrimp. wheres statler and waldorf? the chef only has like 2 scenes so far. snarl. :( |
the shrimp rules. this is pretty damn funny. i love how they mix in (Btw; theres statler and waldorf!) current and modern jokes and movies in with classic muppet humor.
any chance this comes to dvd in a year? |
yeah, just saw them. sad that Kermits nephew has more of a role then those two.
|
I really tried to like this.
I did. But, it didn't work. Thank god I have the Time-Life TV eps, tMM, tGMC, & tMTM on DVD. BTW...the VHS is available on shopnbc.com [or shopatnbc.com - something like that]. They announced this DURING the show. If only MORE things were instantaneous like this... |
well crap...what is this?
http://www.shopnbc.com/famdetail.asp...242&storenum=2 just saw the add on tv too. no dvd?? |
rogue; i have the timelife set too but im liking this. i just like the characters alot so the story doesnt bother me really. fozzy, gonzo, pepe, kermit...they rule.
|
Well I'm sure NBC had enough time to prepare for it. But then again, considering how fast it is to create a dvd copy.. why not a dvd version?
Regardless, I wont buy it if there isn't another Waldorf and statler cameo. ;) |
so...um.. I guess I'm buying it. :p
|
Hmmm....I'm thinking I should have watched that Brady movie on FOX instead. I'm not a huge Muppets fan, but this was rather disappointing.

david arquette AND whoopie..
Boo!! |
Lets see what two muppets had to say about this show

I guess the show/movies were just a lot funnier when I was younger because I watched it and I was just waiting for the punchline. And yes, they needed more of the Swedish Chef.
|
I don't necessarily think that's it.
I think it's that Jim Henson was the heart & soul of the Muppets and he's no longer around...:( Some things can't be duplicated. |
I loved this movie! I thought that there takes on Moulin Rouge, The Grinch, and A Christmas Story were hilarious. But no Clifford? No Seymour? The worst part was definitely all the celebrity cameos. They definitely weren't needed. I thought that at the end all of the celebs would show up and help save the theatre, but I guess not. If this was on DVD, I would buy it.
|
I enjoyed it, but...Arquette? Why? In fact, why Arquette EVER?
But there was some quality stuff in there, and Joan Cusack going over-the-top amused me to no end. RS |
I didn't like it. It didn't have the muppets feel to it. All of the good characters were left out. Animal didn't have anything. Rizzo was barely in it. It seemed like it was a movie first, with the Muppets as an after thought. I do like Pepe the Prawn, so I enjoyed his parts.
|
MMmnnn... A DVD with a commentary track from Statler & Waldorf would be nice... Guessing not though.
|
I'm a huge Muppet fan and I thought this movie was wicked! It was funny, touching and had some really great moments in it... I am just glad to see the Muppets back in action... I thought the parodys and movie homages were great and the mix of classic film and modern references was great.. I think it was one of the better TV movies I've seen in a while... Certainly better than the direct to disc "Kermit's Swamp Years" (which i bought...) I hope they release this on dvd, because I would totally buy it...

I've watched Muppets my whole life and have to say this is one of the best Muppet movies in a long while. Pepe rocks, Bobo had a few good lines, and Kermit/Fozzie/Piggy all had plenty to do. Although I don't like Arquette, he wasn't all that annoying here. The whole Grinch reference had me rolling!
PS Since Henson did Swedish Chef and no one could ever do it as well, I'm sure he along with Doctor Teeth and Ralph will be no more than background characters from now on. |
someone tell them to get in on dvd! i cant believe they have it on vhs already but not dvd?

I taped it and tried to watch it last night while I was putting up the tree, but I turned it off halfway through. Once I saw Moulin Scrooge I was done. It just didn't feel like a Muppets movie to me. I haven't enjoyed anything they have done since Jim Henson died.
