The Sopranos: Pine Barrens

Ok, so I finally finished watching Season 3 the other night. Like most, I really enjoyed the episode Pine Barrens. One thing really bothered me though.

When Valery was being ordered to dig his own grave, Chris and Paulie both have their guns leveled at him. Valery does his little Russian rant, Christopher loses his concentration, and Valery takes advantage of the opportunity. What bothers me is that, when Valery hits Chris on the head with the shovel, instead of just filling him full of lead, Paulie rushes him and get the shovel to the groin. I know it happened fast, but Paulie was a few steps away from the guy and he already had his gun leveled at him. There's no way he doesn't just shoot him instantly when he hits Chris.

That being said, it didn't bother me enough to ruin the episode.

The highlights, IMO:

1. Baccala - what a great outfit. Easily one of my favorite characters.

2. Valery - this guy is a riot. My favorite Valery line, to Paulie after he broke the universal remote: "You wanna Fu** here, Co**su**er?"

3. Paulie and Chris eating the Ketchup packets. Paulie: "Mix it with the relish!"

This episode has been discussed quite extensively since it originally aired and in subsequent general Soprano and season 4 episode threads... but someone may jump in a rap about it.

I actually did a search for "Pine Barrens" before I started this thread and couldn't really find any extensive discussions. Unfortunately, I wasn't keeping up with the Sopranos when it originally aired.

This episode was freakin hilarious...seemed like it had the Fargo and Blair Witch Project thing going on...

And Paulie's hair!

No doubt this is one of my favorite episodes!
