Futurama Petition - I had no idea

I was just surfing around for Futurama sites when I came across this online petition...

http://www.petitiononline.com/futufu/petition.html

It's got over 153,000 names on it

You would think numbers like that would give FOX a good reason to keep the show running (especially as we're always guessing whether it will actually be showing each week during baseball season then football season). And these are just the people who even knew about the survey.

Man, FOX is a bunch of idiots.

It's a good cause, but I have never, ever seen a petition really make a difference. I think the only one that really made headlines was the "Lady of Soul Awards" Ashanti controversy, but that's neither here nor there.

I don't mean to thread crap, of course. And over 100k names is very impressive, but how many of those are fake?

Hopefully somebody will notice that, it doesn't have to stay with FOX, "Grounded for Life" didn't. "Futurama" should go somewhere where it is appriciated.

But haven't the writers moved on to other things? There is little chance of new episodes ever being made.

Wow, 150,000 names. Considering the lowest rated shows on UPN and WB pull in more viewers than that and that the average show pulls in a few million viewers, I don't think the execs care what a bunch of internet dorks (myself included) think.

Alot of those names were from people who do not live in the US....

I guess FOX figured that since they didnt live in the US and wouldnt be contributing to thier ratings that they didnt matter.

I disagree. There was a petition to release the uncut version of Batman Beyond: ROTJ floating around. I think that got the attention of WB to release the original, uncut version.

There's no use using logic or common sense with FOX.

But...Matt Groening said there WILL be new Futurama in some form -- movie maybe.

153677 Signatures Total

That's the total after I signed in.

By the way, how many did you signed, Jack?

One thing to consider is that not everyone has Internet access and/or knows about the petition. Because of this, the execs would be smart to know that each signature should represent more than one person total.

In this case, you also had Fatty Knowles using his AICN site to make a LOT of noise for the cause. (I'm not complaining, I love the movie, and am thrilled that it's on DVD now.)

Just sayin'...

As for Futurama, Fox has always had it in for the show because Groening owns it, and they don't (as opposed to the Simpsons). They're spiteful idiots.

You realize that execs don't watch or care about their own programming, right? Just the bottom line? That's my theory, anyway.

While I like the show very much and IMHO consider the "next" Simpson, this show isn't getting very much viewer at all.

Check out who's at the number 93 with only 3.2 rating?! Yup, Futurama..... Any more question why this show is getting cancel? Sad, but that's the reality......

the problem is the lack of advertisment and the terrible time slot.

Look at how Fox is pimping out "30 seconds to fame" yet that show is rated even worse then futurama. King of the Hill appears higher then malcom in the middle on the seat and even higher then the simpsons. Which I think wouldn't make much sense unless folks are jumping in on the middle of the simpsons and then tuning out after malcom or in the middle of it.

Now if fox made it a comedy block with futurama in there some where (possibly place futurama where the first malcom is at and then bump malcom one notch to 9:30) Futurama will be getting a lot more then a 3.2

NBC kept the original Star Trek on one more season due to a petition from fans.

Cagney and Lacy ran a lot longer than it should have due to crabby fans.

So did America's Most Wanted. Fox pulled it and the fan outcry as well as law enforcement was tremendous. Fox put it back w/in weeks.

So why is Futurama still getting the shaft if Fox has listened to fans in the past?
