Er 11/21

I don't know... I found it was kind of boring this week. I am so bored of that Abby and her brother plot, get something else going. I found tonight's episode tame at best, their whole
Spoiler:
major storm aspect was bland, nothing happens really, just that the drunk SOB rams the family, it's like that was the only reason to bring in the storm.

That's about all I have to say... I didn't watch it with as much interest as the previous weeks.

mikehunt 11-21-02 09:12 PM

the yearly storm episode which started at 9:58 according to the tv guide channel

Rogue588 11-21-02 10:06 PM

And here I thought Kim Bauer was the only one with the ability to bring a show to a screeching halt.

No MORE...

Abby Lockheart now wins the prize.

Yawn. Wake me when her brother's in his Government issued straight-jacket.

Anyways...

Another Pratt-less episode. Yet, also Romano-less.

I was hoping the drunk driver would need intensive internal surgery and they'd let Nathan perform it with rusty equipment while he was seizing. But, alas...

B.A. 11-21-02 10:34 PM

an okay episode - at least Abby gave her mom the bird, and at least Carter showed up at the end.

Don Cheadle is going to win an Emmy for his guest appearances. Damn, he's good, isn't he?

Phil L. 11-21-02 10:34 PM

Yup, I agree.
Very tame and boring episode this week.
Especially after all the NBC hype promoing this.

A huge yawner.
I kept looking at the time:

"OK, there is still half an hour left, still plenty of time for something cool to happen"

"Ok, 15 mins. left, something cool could still happen"

"Counting down to the end, can't believe this episode was that boring."

Rogue588 11-21-02 10:41 PM

Oh yeah, bahist17, I forgot to mention that in my rant. I thought Abby flippin off her mom behind the column was funny. The rest of it was borrrrrrrring.

I didn't think the "family getting plowed" storyline was that bad. And I only say this because I was trying to imagine how I would react in that situation, so I could feel the father's pain.

Buck Turgidson 11-21-02 10:50 PM

I enjoyed seeing Jeff Kober get one of his twice-a-decade opportunities to play a regular person.

My chief regret about this (not too bad) episode was that Tom Everett Scott (as good as he's been), was available to take this role, instead of being where he should have been: working on Philly.

Say it with me: ABC Sucks .

Tscott 11-21-02 11:13 PM

It was an okay episode that would've been better if the entire plot wasn't already summed up in the ads they've been running every 15 mins. this week.

Thanks for posting this, I was trying to figure out where I knew the father from. According to IMDB he guest stared as 'Rack' on Buffy plus a few more parts where I've seen him.

He almost always plays criminals, killers, stock villains. I hate that kind of cheap, easy typecasting.

Static Cling 11-22-02 01:38 AM

When I saw Cheadle's character go to stick the otoscope into that girl's ear, I was like, "Oh, no, he's not going to..."

*jerk* *squish-rip* "Aaaaaaaah!"

"Oh my gosh, he did."

And I was a little ticked off that Gallant's uniform was dicked up. The tail on his beret shouldn't have been sticking out... he should've tucked it away or cut it off. And I have no idea what patch he was wearing on his left shoulder... there are only two patches that military med students should be wearing, and he wasn't wearing either of them. Attention to detail, people... :(

Patman 11-22-02 05:36 AM

You have to love Corday, flunking Nathan...with compassion. :) Glad she got through to Nathan in the end. I guess we've seen the last of Nathan?

I'm pretty much over the bi-polar brother storyline for Abby.

The family getting plowed by the drunk was above average, and Kober did a good job with what they gave him to do. Korday showed a few sides of her non-bitchy side in this episode and came through in the clutch.

A lot of the Air Force stuff was messed up too. I was stationed in Omaha so I know for a fact that they don't drive around in Humvees and there aren't any stealth fighters there unless there is an airshow going on.

Didn't he also play the sort of semi-psycho, loner, soldier in China Beach?

Patman 11-22-02 11:57 AM

Yup, he was one China Beach as the whacked out soldier.

2 of main China Beach's stars are now also working on TV:

Marg Helgenberg - CSI
Dana Delaney - Presidio Med

LBPound 11-22-02 12:21 PM

Waaaaaaay too boring. Actually watched some of US Marshals on TBS! Seriously. And then The Whole Nine Yards. ER needs to do something more interesting than the typical family rocked by drunk driver plotline. Snore.

Gcomeau 11-22-02 01:04 PM

Abbey's family story is unoriginal. On the other hand Don Cheadle should get a nod too bad he won't be around to much longer. That's the only possitive thing going on right now. Pray for a better episode next week if it's not a repeat.

Patman 11-22-02 01:52 PM

I think there's no new ER next week, might be pre-empted by some other programming. I know know that NBC has concerts by Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill on successive nights (I think starting next Tuesday).

Guessing the same thing (too lazy to look it up myself) based on:

1) no previews at the end of last night's ep

2) it's Thanksgiving Day

He's been on Buffy twice. He was Rack last season, then, I think it was season3, he was in the episode where Giles drugs Buffy with something that makes her lose her slayer powers becuase every slayer has to go through a trial of fighting a vamp without them. He played the vamp she was supposed to fight but he got loose and kidnapped Joyce.

Norm de Plume 11-22-02 05:38 PM

Was that Chong in an uncredited cameo as the bum, man?

Some of the best ER episodes have premiered on Thanksgiving. The one when Hathaway had her twins. The one when Mark was diagnosed and Corday found out she was pregnant.

Oh well, the show is pretty lame anymore, who cares? :D

Yeah, I thought the Stealth fighters were based out in Nevada (@Nellis AFB, I think). Another thing that bugs me on TV in regards to the Air Force (especially since I am an Air Force 'brat') is that they refer to SPs as MPs and the BX as the PX - it's not the Army, its the Air Force, get it right!

Agreed. I really like this guy and how well he can act after his role on China Beach.

mikehunt 11-22-02 11:21 PM

And Robert Picardo was on Voyager, which had an episode with a murderer, played by Jeff Kober

so has anyone else noticed ER starting early?
it was a fairly good episode, better than some, and Corday wasn't a total biatch like the last few weeks

I thought this ER episode was fine. Not sure where the military brother story is going, I hope there is some pay off. I thought the family hit near the snowman to be compelling as I wondered what it would be like to be that dad in that position.

Obviously the storyline about the seizures is nearing some sort of decision or direction after he jammed the scope in the girl's ear. It's hard to watch that guy dealing with his disability.

But more importantly, Marg and Dana. Damn, I miss China Beach.
