If Paulie <i>was</i> involved in the death of the horse, it had nothing to do with Tony - it would have been because Paulie figured out about the phone call to his mom, and knew of Ralph's involvement with the horse - so it would have been a direct attack on something of Ralph's.

Someone earlier said <i>"it cant be paulie, christopher said he knew for a fact that paulie was out of town."</i> - but given Christopher's drug situation, I'm not sure I'd believe everything he says.

looks like Chrissy is in danger. I think Uncle Junior was referring to him when he said"There's no telling what he's liable to do in his condition if the Feds get a hold of him."

Spoiler:
Could be, but I read that as a reference to Ralph, who Uncle Jun presumably still thinks is alive. In his condition -- distraught over the near-death of his son -- Ralph could do anything. Maybe the reason nobody can find him is because he went into witness protection, just like that bastard Richie Aprile.

As to who's responsible for the fire, my money is on Ralph. He all but admitted it with his speech about colic. Probably we'll never get a more definitive answer than the one we got this week, though.

Besides Ralphie does anyone think that Uncle Junior REALLY is losing it? He looked kind of disturbed when he got back in the house at the eind after asking for the ice cream from his neighbor.

It was strange that Junior continued the ice cream charade after he got inside-- he can't think the place is bugged, because that's where they planned the whole thing. Unless he is just playing it safe with the nurse.

Does anybody see this show ending without Tony either dead or in prison? At this point, it seems inevitable.

Kind of sad to see the Ralphie character gone. The guy was a wildcard and made everything more interesting.

Deke Rivers 11-11-02 09:27 AM

i enjoyed every minute of his death..

agreed

I kept thinking something was going to happen to Tony's eyes. like some kind of permanent damage.
Can you really get sprayed with Raid full in the eyes and suffer no damage?

At the end when he woke up in the Bada Bing, and all was dark, then the bright light as he opens the door I thought might be foreshadowing.
But in next week upcoming scenes, all seems fine, so I guess not.

Dr. DVD 11-11-02 10:13 AM

I just started watching my season 3 DVDs last night and aside from some season four repeats I have caught here and there, I barely knew Ralphie's character, but I loved Joe Pantoliano in the role. Shame he is gone. :( Then again, he might have been some horrible person who got what he deserved. I I guess Ralphie was a member of another family that kept peace with Tony?

In terms of who might go and who might stay,
Spoiler:
I would say Adrianna is a good candidate for it. Drea DeMatteo is one of the many stars asking for over $100,000 per episode, which would bring her salary to over $1 million for the season. While she is good eye candy IMO, her character seems the most expendable at this point. The major twist would be for Tony to bite it, but I don't see how the show could survive without him.

Some argue that Christopher might rise to the top, but in his current state I don't see him as that much of a leader.

Patman 11-11-02 11:02 AM

Was I the only one who laughed when Tony was wearing the "Bada Bing" t-shirt?

outcastja 11-11-02 11:07 AM

I didn't think Ralph killed the horse, because all he had in his mind was taking care of his son and re-thinking his way of life.

JoeyOhhhh 11-11-02 11:30 AM

Anyone else think that Tony's crew is going to think Johnny Sack had something to do with Ralphie's death?

Um...it could easily have been Paulie. As you can tell Captains do not kill or harm anyone or anything (in this case), they have someone below them do it.

Paulie could have easily told some of the wannabes under him to go set the sheds ablaze.

Just a thought though.

Can't say I'm an expert on how the mob operates, but could Tony get in some deep **** for doing that? Since he was a made man and a captian, wouldn't Tony have to go through the "proper channels" and get some kind of authorization?

Did you notice in the episode that he tells Chris that he came in and found him like that?

Yes. He can get in some deep ****.

huzefa 11-11-02 11:42 AM

What I don't get is why Tony would be in trouble over this. He's the boss of the family. If he wants to whack Ralphie, he doesn't need a sitdown. Who is he gonna sit down with, carmine? Why should Carmine care? I know they were in business together with Ralphie but Ralphie's business will still be there.

The only reason he'd get in trouble is because of his reason for killing Ralphie. Tony killed him for the wrong reason. If Ralphie had done something wrong, then Tony's motives would have been justified.

Why does he even need a reason? Who is gonna complain that Ralphie's gone? His crew? They'll follow anyone. In the world of Sopranos, Tony doesn't need a reason for killing Ralph. It's better if nobody knows he did it, but I doubt anybody's going to do anything to Tony if the truth did come out.

Exactly, killing Ralphie over a horse is not a good reason to kill your top earner off. The other captains would probably revolt against Tony if they know about the Ralphie incident. Tony is a hyprocrite, he preached to Paulie not to touch Ralphie and reminds him this is a business, but then goes to kill him over a horse.

True, nobody is going to miss Ralphie, but its more of a trust issue. If it comes out that Tony killed Ralphie in the midst of his emotions getting the best of him, who is to say anyone is safe?

It also makes Tony somewhat of a hypocrite. Paulie wants to clip him for calling his mother. Tony says no because it has nothing to do with business. Same thing when Johnny Sack wanted to clip him. Those two incidents have nothing to do with business. The thing with the horse might, but as Ralphie mentioned, the horse is insured, and probably made more money for them then if they let the horse retire.

On a sidenote

Ralphie is overshadowing the whole episode, rightfully so. But i thought when Tony bear hugged Anthony Jr. frozenly for 10 seconds, with Carmela sadly looking on. So obvious, that Anthony Jr. growing up and not into the affection like his pre-teen years, which im sure most of us can relate to in our early younth.

That look of his defeat after that was next to heartbreaking, as him and Carmela just shared silent agreement.

I didn't think Tony went over there to kill him... I don't even really think it seemed like he was going to smack him around at first but then Ralph couldn't keep his mouth shut. Once they started yelling at each other Tony smacked Ralph but Ralph was the one who brought the fight to the next level. He started hitting Tony with the coffee pot (or whatever that silver thing was) and then went for the kitchen knife - if he hadn't been trying to kill Tony I think he'd still be alive.

outcastja 11-11-02 12:52 PM

Tony couldn't stop but bringing up the issue of the horse, which probably pissed off Ralph, since all he has in his mind is his kid. And Tony shouldn't have hit him regardless. Tony got some heat for hitting Ralph in Season 3, cause he was a made man, so its even worse now since Ralph was a captain.

Exactly...and that's what Tony does not want his crew to know about. He told Paulie, Sylvio and Chris to not lay a hand on Ralphie. Tony ends up killing him over a horse that Ralphie did or did not kill.

If Syl and Paulie find out the truth about this, they will no longer be able to trust Tony.

EDITED -- Syl and Paulie.
