Wanted: Quirky Cartoon-Ready Brit Family


Betting that real families are stranger than fictional ones, Nickelodeon has launched a search in the UK for an eccentric British family willing to have its quirks memorialized in a series of cartoon shorts that promise to be a cross between The Simpsons and The Osbournes. Apparently, there is no shortage of willing families who think they have the goods. The network received more than 10,000 inquiries in the first hour after they began accepting applications via their website and telephone hotline. The search will go on throughout August, with Nickelodeon's talent scouts scouring the streets of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol and Brighton. Families will also be encouraged to promote themselves in on-air ad campaigns. The winning family will be whisked off to Los Angeles for their ‘toon transformation at the hands of British animator Milo Waterfield.
