Boomtown

Is anyone still watching this show? Just a few weeks in, and I find the gimmick very stale already.

I absolutely love the beautiful music during the opening credits sequence. Anyone know if it's on an album of instrumental music? I'd assume it's not.

This last episode was the worst yet. I was hoping that guy would cap the paramedic, as her character's superfluous as a regular in the structure of the show.

And what was the deal with Donnie's wife. All of the other episodes she's bedridden and depressed...suddenly she's out trick or treating?

rkndkn 10-28-02 03:50 PM

I'm still watching this.

I had the exact same question regarding Joel's wife. Maybe she has bipolar disorder and hit a good spell.

I enjoyed this Halloween episode.

Spoiler:
That part with Tom and Ray in the Halloween costumes and the ensuing mayhem is probably as comical as we're ever going to get on this show. And I liked the confrontation between Andrea and David, and the resulting scene between David and his wife. I was upset they cut out of the scene right after the wife asked him if he's sleeping with the reporter, though. I would have liked to have seen his fumbled reaction to that one.

I think this show is going to be gone in another month.....

It is really starting to suck.

I'm sad. I think this could have been a very good show, but the network mandated "the gimmick" over good writing/storytelling.

Will executives ever learn their lesson?

I haven't watched the latest show (it's on tape), but I agree that it seems like it is going downhill. However, I still think that it should be picked up for the full season.

According to Access Hollywood yesterday it's already been picked up for the full season. I once again fell asleep during this episode so that's my queue to set my VCR for the rest of the season.

I just saw it for the first time last night, and thought it was pretty good, but I can totally see myself getting sick of the gimmick after just a few episodes. Decent production values, and suspense, though, I thought.

Boomtown has already been picked up for the full year according to tv guide.

I enjoyed it very much, it's giving you a bit more insight into the characters, interesting to see donnie's wife out and about. And obviously he was worried about her continuing with the trick or treating thing.

The comedy bit was funny, and I enjoyed it. Tom is a bit of a character.

For sure it's in my top 5 drama's

Was that the wife or the sister who was caring for the wife. It was a little odd because Willie(?), Joel's son, did not seem to interact with her like she was his mother.

This particular storyline is taking WAY to long to unfold. Little scenes like this one only prove to be annoying when you can't even tell WHAT is going on with the characters - I mean that woman could have been ANYONE (except maybe the wife) the was she was acting.

I liked this episode okay. Next week's looks to be good (obviously NBC is saving the better eps for November). I'll continue to watch and tape Curb Your Enthusiasm. ;)

BTW - anyone notice how terrible IMDb's entry for this show is? I mean it is REALLY lacking and messed up in the casting and episode order dept.

It was the wife. The sister is younger and a brunette.

The plastic pumkin bit was entertaining. I like Mykelti Williamson as well. They may have to cut down on the number of perspectives they use each episode though b/c I thought they used it too many times this episode.

Wow. I can't believe how often I disagree with DVD talkers. :D

I thought this was the best episode yet by far.

movieking 10-30-02 05:11 AM

I would put it in the middle of the pack. Wasn't the best show, but it wasn't the worst. I think that it is one of the best new series so far this year, even if the gimmick gets kind of old.
