Survivor 10/24/02
You stupid idiots. You take 1. I thought you could do these puzzles in your sleep, genius.
das |
Tell me about it, das!
I still think of Shii An (sp) and her ability to "do these logical puzzles in [her] sleep". Robb (two b's) deserved to go just because he's an idiot (for saying something along the lines of "before I came on this show, life meant just getting wasted, but now it means so much more"). It took a game show to figure this out? Shii An should be gone NEXT just for spouting that proverb during tribal council. Oh, just noticed her exact occupation title this episode- "Executive Recruiter". Basically that's a person who doesn't know how to do a job, but thinks they can fake it just enough to hire someone who does. Edited for grammar. |
I wonder what's up with the merge next week. Do you think Survivor is pulling another fast one and changing the game again, or are they just trying to make it look like things will be different? I kind of hope the merge happens while the tribes are even. That would make for a much more interesting game.
|
Line of the week: when Robb said that he "squashed the beef" with Ken.
I thought it was funny how he got a vote and all he could say was "Hey, it's two B's!" Yes, two B's....To be honest, you're an idiot! |

• Quoth Barings •
Shii An should also be gone just for spouting that proverb during tribal council.

There's a proverb that says, "when you spout off a proverb in criticism of another that applies equally to yourself, best to keep your trap shut." das |
It was a shame to see Rob go. Sure he was an idiot, but he was really the only entertaining person on that team.
|
Thank God Robb is gone. I wanted to see him ride off into the sunset with his skateboard.

At least we were treated to an array of knarly hand signals before he left. das |
Was Robb channelling Richard Simmons at the camp fire? Sheesh!
Anyone knows that as soon as you say you are happy to have had the experience of just being out there with all those other survivors, that's when you get the boot. Anyhow, it was a good move to boot Robb because with the merge coming up and team even at 5-5, Robb would dominate in the physical challenges. But it did seem that the producers stacked the deck against Sook Jai will all the brain-teaser immunity challenges to even up the teams. I still can't believe Jan and Jake are still out there. |
I knew homeboy was gone last week when he voted for Shi An and no one (except Steph) did also. He wasn't part of the group. Erin and the other blond are voting with the group, since they didn't seem to happy to vote for Rob(b), but still did.
What a complete waste of matter that moron is. |

Actually, "idiots" should be "idiot." I was ragging on the know-it-all somnambulating puzzle-solver. There's nothing wrong with not knowing how to do it. Anyway, it's really a stupidly unfair game. I had never heard of it until tonight and rightfully so. You can take 1, 2, or 3 flags, right? And you alternate turns. The second team can always force a sum of 4 no matter what the first team does. The natural conclusion is that the team who goes first can simply take 1 flag and win the game. Absurdly unfair. Of course, brainiac screwed this up at the beginning, but Chuay Gahn hadn't thought that far ahead, so they got another chance. At the big "moment" there were 9 flags, and Shii Ann was leading the group. Had she taken 1 flag, there would be 8. Regardless of what the other team did, they could force it to 4. Once again, regardless of what the other team did, they'd get the last flag. They take 1, you take 3 (with the flag). They take 2, you take 2 (with the flag). They take 3, you take the flag. But she can only do these puzzles in her sleep (not while awake ... an odd achilles heel) and took 3, putting the game in Chuay Gahn's hands, who by now had figured out the pattern and forced Sook Jai into the 4 spot by taking 2. In short, the goal is to stick the other team on a multiple of 4. Once you've done that, you can ride it to the end. It's really quite basic and IMO very unfair if the first team has a "thinker." Thankfully, Shii Ann doesn't qualify. :) das |
it hasn't air for the westcoast ppl yet.

That's why the thread is dated. You know which episode we're talking about, so you can avoid it until you've seen the episode. Considering that a LARGE number of people watch this stuff over the Internet, in foreign lands, and on PVR-delay, it would be impossible to figure out when everyone had seen the show, not just the Left Coasters. By dating the thread, there's no confusion. It's clear what episode is being discussed and up to the reader to decide if he's ready for the information contained within. das |
I changed the TiVo from cable to RF and the channels have not updated yet :(
Can someone give me a summary?? Thanks! :) |

Originally posted by Patman I still can't believe Jan and Jake are still out there. This time, Jan and Jake, the two oldest tribe members, are still out there. I think it's because they were selected as the ones to pick their teams in the beginning. Their tribemates might have a hard time voting out someone who picked them into their team. Also, this time the two oldest members are physically very fit and have good personality to not aggrevate anyone in their tribe. |

Jan is a nutcase and very irritating, her only grace was that Gone-dia was more irritating, else, Jan would have gotten the boot sooner.
|
Shi Ann should go for telling them to take 3 instead of 1 pols in the immumity challenge. I say D-oh to that one and knew it at the time. Plus I hate recruiters and Human Resource people in general as mentioned by someone else above.
One other thing, did all of you miss the first 20 minutes due to sniper press conference coverage? |
I was wondering if Shi Ann threw the challenge so she could vote out Robbbbbbb.
|
Originally posted by mookiemeister So what's up with everyone spelling Robb's name with one B? Did all his tribemates spell his name wrong to annoy him? |
I actually thought that Shii Ann was gone, since they only showed Robb's vote for her, and her vote for Robb. Since it is hard to judge what is going on just based on what we are shown, I figured that everyone still wanted Shii Ann gone more than Robb. If it was me, based on what we saw, I would want Robb gone first as well. He seems like the most annoying person out there this time, including Jann and Shii Ann (although they are not too far behind).
|
Can anyone fill me in on the first 20 minutes. I know they went after the lost boat - what happened? The CBS affiliate in DC preempted the first 20 minutes for sniper coverage.
|
Getting rid of Robb was the smart move - he could have dominated many of the physical challenges. After seeing the supposed genius blow the puzzle, the worry about her outsmarting you in a future intelligence challenge certainly became less of a concern.
