Friends (10/17/02)
Clearly, this show lost its edge a long time ago, but I would still have expected somebody to create a thread. :p
The Joey/Susan Ward/roommate thing was pretty predictable. I saw that one coming from a mile away. The best part of the show was Chandler and Monica. It was funny when Monica walked in on Chandler "molesting himself" and then when she called Rachel to tell her about it. Monica's face and reaction was classic when she inserted the shark tape, hugged Chandler, and looked away. http://www.ameritech.net/users/dvdtalk/rome.gif |
It was ok. Nice to see Rachel not be the focus point for everything...
I wonder how long Chandler will remain in the Tulsa...is this until the end of the season/series? It the group now 5 1/2, not 6? From watching this episode, I would probably guess so. |
This show should NOT make it to the end of the season it is getting to be that bad
|
The Chandler and Monica segment was very funny. I would give the episode a C+

Wow, I must have bad taste or low expectations or something b/c I loved this ep. Every once in awhile they have to have an ep where nothing really happens but the jokes just fly, and I think this was one of those.
Loved the Joey subplot, and I thought the Monica/Chandler thing was hilarious "Chandler's into shark porn!" "No, I was just watching good old American girl-on-girl action." "You don't know how good that makes me feel!" I'm laughing right now thinking about that whole storyline. |
Joey is clearly the only funny thing left about this show.

I thought this was one of the better episodes they've had for a while. I liked how they had three seperate stories going and brought them back together at the end. This is how the show worked in the early seasons before it became a soap opera.
|
By the way - how did the last 2 minutes go? F-you NBC.

 episode.
i liked the phoebe-ross storyline about her not having a long term relationship. and the joey story was funny as always. i always wondered if something like that was going to happen to him. "How can you not remember me?" |
I thought this was a pretty weak episode. I DID like the whole shark attack gag, though. I hate to say it, but the show looks like it may be on its very last gallon of gas.
|
I thought the shark thing was stupid. Of course he changed the channel! Ever hear of a remote control? Sad thing is, that was the best part of the show.
Ross being an idiot isn't funny at all. Where are we supposed to believe this guy got a phd from? The first two shows this season were good, this one was a big stinker. |
I didn't like the show very much either. The Shark Porn was the funniest part, and even that was only a mild chuckle. Joey is the funniest one on the show now, but get him out of a predictable situation that you could see coming a mile away...

Last night's episode removed all doubt that Joey is now carrying the show. His banter with the girl and Gunther, his bragging about his prowess, and his realization that he was with the roommate instead, were the highlights of the episode.
Usually, Phoebe's plots are the stuff of "who cares?", but her histrionics coupled with Ross' earnest cluelessness were amusing. Paul Rudd had a good line with "I can't remember the last time I opened a door and you weren't on the other side." The "shark porn" plot was just stupid. Did it not once occur to Monica that Chandler might've changed the channel in a panic to conceal the fact that he was masturbating? You would think that they just met, instead of knowing each other for years. It's that lack of continuity that frustrates me. http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk! |
Who was the hot girl joey slept with? Not the roommate at the end mind you. Anybody know?

So Chandler is just in Tulsa temporary right?!
They wouldn't kill off his character before the series ends, would they? |

For the last two seasons I've had this stabbing pain shoot through my head every time Ross opens his mouth.

Originally posted by Patman The brunette was played Susan Ward (she was in "Shallow Hal" as the neighbor that disses Hal in the beginning of the film, but then realizes what a decent guy Hal is by the end of the film). http://www.ameritech.net/users/dvdtalk/rome.gif |
Originally posted by immortal_zeus Joey didn't sleep with Susan Ward; he slept with her roommate. But Kal Jedi said that he wasn't talking about the roommate so I assume he's talking about the girl that was in "Central Perk"...the one where Joey is gonna go talk to her but then promptly sits right back down after he recognizes that he's already slept with her. http://www.ameritech.net/users/dvdtalk/rome.gif |
