The Official FARSCAPE Cancellation Thread

Cool articles, cooper.
They changed the logo? Hadn't been there in so long I had no idea.
Of course, many of us on this forum saw this coming looong before the cancellation of Farscape ... still, good to see the "news" sites finally picking up on it and giving it coverage.

I guess someone is watching it....
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Having the words "Steven Spielberg Presents" at the beginning of a program's title must be a ratings boon.
The first evening of Sci Fi's ten-night miniseries "Taken" shattered the channel's audience record, with a 4.9 household rating and over 6 million unique viewers. This installment of the alien abduction saga topped the previous audience record holder, "Frank Herbert's Dune, Part One," by 28 percent.
"I'm absolutely thrilled with the success of the premiere night of 'Taken,'" says Bonnie Hammer, president of SCI FI Channel. "It is simply an incredible testament to everyone involved in this project - all of whom lent support to what was an unparalleled creative risk."
A DreamWorks production, "Taken" is the largest miniseries ever made for television. The 10-night, 20-hour saga examines the 20th-century mythology of alien visitation and abduction, beginning with the Roswell crash in the summer of 1947, continuing into the early years of the Atomic Age and ending in the present day.
"Taken" airs on Sci Fi continuing through Friday, Dec. 6.

I too didn't realize that they had changed the logo... when did that happen?
I just turned to the channel for the first time since Farscape went off the air (literally). Can't say I'm a big fan of the logo. Also, now the "bug" at the bottom of the screen is much more bold and obvious. That's probably what they were going for, but I prefer the subtlety of the old one. Next step: an "info bar" ala TNN.
Just another reason that they are making it easy for me to ignore their channel.
Damn, looks like my boycott didn't have the effect I was hoping for.
Honestly, these numbers aren't surprising. It's had a huge ad blitz. It's not airing during a sweeps month or during any major competition. And it's got good ol' Steve's name attached to it above the title.
If only they'd put as much effort into promoting other programs, like... oh, I don't know... Farscape? Who knows, maybe the ratings would be up even higher if they hadn't been pissing on the fans for the past months.

It's really quite amazing that when you promote something aggresively people will tune in. Sci-Fi must have brought in some outside contractors to uncover this programming nugget.
Still refuse to watch though.

Just a reminder that Farscape starts tonight in its new 8pm timeslot.
The new episode ("Kansas") isn't on until next week, but this week they show the first part of the three-part arc ("Unrealized Reality"). [Also, they are showing A Prefect Murder at 6pm and Coup By Clam at 7pm]
It's been so long (3+ months) since these episodes aired, I figured people would probably want to re-watch before the new ones start.

Some folks have actually taken out an ad on the front page of the Feb. 3rd Variety:

It amazes me that Sci-Fi could ignore that level of fandom. People are taking their hard-earned money and doing Sci-Fi's ads themselves. Amazing.
