As much as I hate to say it, it was pretty good.

the Smurfette Show was the funniest though. :)

They still didn't deserve the Emmy though...

TechiChick 10-06-02 01:36 AM

It was hilarious!! I wonder if anyone will have it online.

immortal_zeus 10-06-02 02:58 AM

I thought it was okay. It started out good, but fizzled in the end.

Why the hell is Tracy Morgan still on this show? Has he ever been in a funny skit? That Safari crap is lame as hell and so is that Spaceman Spiff thing.

The Smurfette Show was funny. I liked the opening monologue, too, though it wasn't much of a monologue.

As mentioned in another thread, I also really liked the "consoling" of the Yankees fans.:(:) [which was the only funny thing on WU]

das Monkey 10-06-02 04:26 AM

I actually thought it was pretty bad (and I defend the show regularly). Liked the opening Dance Off. Liked the Sexpot 2000. And some of the WU stuff was good, particularly the guest comedian. Other than that, a lot of rehashed skits that weren't really that good the first time around.

I usually love SNL, but I thought this episode was pretty bad. I don't think that I laughed once. Didn't like the SexBot, didn't like the danceoff, didn't like the the Springsteen concert skit, didn't like Brian Fellows, didn't like Smurfette, didn't like Weekend Update. The one saving grace was Springsteen as the musical guest.

I can't wait to see SMG next week though.

TheMadMonk 10-06-02 01:13 PM

I only saw the first 2/3 of the show, but thought it wasn't too bad for a first episode of the season (last years' first episode - after 9/11 was much worse, IMHO).

Wormwood 10-06-02 04:36 PM

What about the "Hannibal In College" skit? I thought it was pretty funny.

mikehunt 10-06-02 07:12 PM

it was ok
the Matt Damon skit was pretty good I thought
and the cartoon

conscience 10-06-02 07:28 PM

sitting waiting for faith hill on next weeks show....

Jadzia 10-06-02 08:15 PM

Matt Damon doing Axl Rose was hilarious! The running back & forth and out of breath was dead-on if you saw the MTV Awards.

Weekend Update was great:

"We've been growng horse teeth in Carly Simon for years."

Smurfette/Anna Nicole cartoon was also very funny.

El Scorcho 10-06-02 08:23 PM

This show was great in the first half and then came to a screeching halt in the 2nd half.

I love the Brian Fellow sketch. Smurfette was good. Dance-off was good. WU was stupid. Hannibal/college wasn't that funny -- they could have done more with it.

Arcade 10-06-02 09:01 PM

Last Nights show was OK.
Next week is Sarah Michelle Gellar which I am looking forward to seeing.

Verminaard 10-06-02 10:31 PM

Smufette was pretty twisted. I liked it.

The guy who played the South American comedian is now one of the supporting cast, so we may see that character again. I thought it was the funniest part of a poor show. Oh, Dios Mio! I'm jus' keeding!

I may skip next week's show, because I can't stomach SMG.

http://charliegoose.homestead.com/files/goose.jpg Honk!

das Monkey 10-07-02 12:25 AM

You'll be missing out: SMG's done an excellent job each time she's hosted. Her position as a hot chick/teen idol doesn't change the fact that she's a phenomenal actress and pretty good at the whole SNL thing.

I'm trying to figure out what's more disturbing...that you called her a phenomenal actress or a hot chick.

But then I remembered you're one of the main supporters of Farscape on this forum so I forgave you. :D;)

:D I'll be the first to hate on the "teen" idols, but the girl can act (watch 'Becoming' or 'The Body' or any number of other great moments and try to convince yourself otherwise). And when not "mothered up" for these later seasons of Buffy, she's quite the hottie too (that's just an opinion based on the Buffybot I've been building these last 7 years).

As for Farscape, apologies on not posting any updates in the movement. 10 news things happen every day, so there's no sense posting in that other thread each time something happens. But we've made significant progress - hopefully there will be good response to the huge rally we had this weekend. The fight continues ...

That's Fred Armisen -- I was pleasantly surprised to see him in the opening credits. He was the drummer in a great '90s indie band called Trenchmouth (Dismemberment Plan owe just about everything to them -- they were a mix of Fugazi and James Brown), and I guess he's been doing comedy for several years now (appearances on Conan, apparently?). He was great, so I hope he becomes a regular cast member.

Chopper 10-07-02 09:17 AM

I just couldn't stop laughing at Matt Damon and... ummm... that guy who isn't Matt Damon wearing the Red Sox caps & talking to Yankees fans.

And the Boss was great.

But everything else was not so good.

DrEvil 10-07-02 06:50 PM

What about the short commercial where Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz shot the Aflac duck? I thought that was pretty funny.

movieking 10-07-02 07:04 PM

Hannibal in College was a decent skit, but it went out way too long. The duck commercial was okay, but it was no Mercury Mistress, probably my favorite SNL commercial of all time.

agreed, the one from her that had me in stiches was the "holding your boobs with hands" skit.
