Nickelodeon's Rugrats to become 'All Growed Up'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Nickelodeon has begun production on a spinoff of its enduringly popular cartoon "Rugrats."

The new series, "All Growed Up," will follow Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and the rest of the "Rugrats" gang as pre-teens. The series follows the success of last year's "All Growed Up" special, which set ratings records for Nickelodeon.

"The tween special proved kids are ready to embrace these beloved characters in a whole new realm," says Cyma Zarghami, executive vice president and general manager of Nickelodeon. "The Rugrats property is 11 years old, so it feels just right to have the babies turn into tweens in their 12th year on the air."

Additionally, Nick and production company Klasky-Csupo are working on a series of four specials following the adventures of Angelica and her friend Susie in preschool.

"All Growed Up" will find the Rugrats in middle school, adjusting to life on the cusp of puberty. Flashbacks in some episodes will reveal events from the years between toddler- and tweenhood.


I was wondering what was taking so long for this to happen. This is a no-brainer. If they can keep the kind of humor that the special had, then this will be big with the tweens.

hmm... will this just end up like "doug" with a rugrats cast?

I thought the "All Growed Up" special was actually pretty bad, so I wouldn't watch. The show itself pretty much peaked awhile ago, and this doesn't sound too exciting.

Nick can approve this and Cancel INVADER ZIM :(
