Where are all the 3-D Marathons?

I remember growing up to weekend 3-D marathons on TV of classic films such as Gorilla at Large, Hondo, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Revenge of the Creature, Inferno, Mad Magician, and more. Usually a store would provide the 3-D glasses free for the event. My questions are what other films were shown during these events? I may have missed some. Does anybody have decent copies to trade? I have copies of the above titles to trade.

I don't believe Jaws 3 and Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street 6 ever were broadcast in analgraph 3-D on TV. However they were released in theaters.

Here is a list of 3-D movies which were broadcast on TV or released on VHS. Keep in mind the majority of these were downconverted to the inferior red/blue anaglyph format and look terrible compared to the much higher quality polariod theatrical versions. Many of these transfers were downright unwatchable, while others had their moments. Many of these did not air on US TV but were shown in other countries; others were converted but may have never aired..

ROBOT MONSTER (with color 3-D footage added for some broadcasts)
THE MAD MAGICIAN (Elvira ran it with color 3-D segments)
CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (VHS)
REVENGE OF THE CREATURE
MISS SADIE THOMPSON
BWANA DEVIL
FORT TI
THE NEBRASKAN
GUN FURY
DYNASTY
SEXCALIBUR (VHS)
THE MASK
FREDDY'S DEAD (laser and DVD box set)
DOMO ARIGATO
COMIN AT YA! (VHS and DVD)
THE BUBBLE (VHS and DVD)
HONDO
JAWS 3-D (for Polish TV only)
AMITYVILLE 3-D
KISS ME KATE
THREE STOOGES SHORTS
THIRD DIMENSION MURDER short
HALLOWEEN 3-D special with John Astin
HAWAIIAN SWIMSUIT SPECTACULAR
INFERNO
3-D TV XPERIMENT
PARASITE (scheduled for VHS but aborted)
IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE (VHS)
CAT WOMEN OF THE MOON (VHS)
GORILLA AT LARGE
THE ATOMIC BOMB MOVIE

Again, most of the transfers were awful, and not representative of the original photography. They were blurry, had little depth, 3-D gimmicks were ruined, the colored lenses threw off the color schemes, etc. Others may exist, but these are the ones I've seen and tracked down.

If you want REAL 3-D at home, many of these and a host of others are available in the far superior field sequential format. The IMAX DVD HORROR or ULTIMATE 3-D set will get you started with everything you need plus three 3-D DVDs.

Steve, is that a comprehensive list?

I could have sworn the 3D movie I saw as a kid with my dad was King Kong, but I guess it could have been Gorilla at Large.

Well, 3-D movies with "apes" in them are ROBOT MONSTER, GORILLA AT LARGE and A*P*E (the latter being a Korean knock off of KING KONG). I don't think A*P*E was ever transferred to analgyph for broadcast though.

There only films with KING KONG in the title are:

KING KONG 1933
KING KONG VS GODZILLA 1962
KING KONG ESCAPES 1968
KING KONG 1976
KING KONG LIVES 1986

None of these were 3-D films, so what you saw was likely one of the others.

It's not a complete list. There are likely a few other 3-D movies that were broadcast somewhere in the world in anaglyph.

I also forgot to mention ABC's 3-D week from 1997; where several sitcoms in one week had anaglyph 3-D segments in them. These were FAMILY MATTERS, SABRINA, SPIN CITY, HOME IMPROVEMENT, STEP BY STEP, COACH, AMERICA'S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS, ELLEN, and some others. Most of it wasn't very
effective as is usual for anaglyph.
