Trigger Happy TV on Comedy Central
Did anyone else watch this? It is a british hidden camera show. Never heard of it before. The previews made it look like it would suck. But OMG I didn't stop laughing. Its not like most hidden camera shows, with the same crap repeated over. Very dry humor stuff but dam, it was halarious. A lot of stuff with people in animal suits. Which is always a hit. I hope this stays on.

Not really a new show ... repurposed for Comedy Central. Still, I love watching it. Some of the bits are pretty stupid, but most of them are quite funny, particularly -- as you said -- people in animal suits.

I've gotta say it's pretty funny...

I like it, too.

Tonight's episode (9-8) was fricken HILARIOUS!
I can't say enough about this show. Their use of costumes is just WRONG. The Squirrel gang...LOL Anyone else see this? |
I saw it...I didn't know what the hell it was but it was funny.
My favorite bit was when the guy in the turtle suit stopped traffic at the crosswalk and then he got down on his hands and knees to crawl across the street....and then all of a sudden a buy in a rabbit (hare) suit runs right by him. http://www.ameritech.net/users/dvdtalk/rome.gif |

This show is great. Thanks for pointing it out! It's like a mix of Tom Green and Family Guy
|
family guy? I guess...I see more of the Upright Citizens Brigade or the State in these guys....

The humor is so off the wall and surreal. I love it, especially when the maruadering squirrels beat up an unsuspecting human.

I've been watching this show on Comedy Central lately, it is a very funny show.
Their use of people in animal outfits is just hilarious! Probably my favorite skit to date was when the lady, dressed like a lawyer, came up to the guy selling tickets and told him that she was his attorney and that she was going to do everything possible to get him out of there. And then slipped him a pack of cigarettes to help him get by. And of course told him not to speak with anybody else, that she was his attorney. The look of utter confusement on his face was great. |

Also like when the guy dresses in a trench coat, dark glasses, hat and is clutching a briefcase. Sits next to strangers on a park bench and starts asking spy-related questions, gets up and walks off. |
There's actually two "Trigger Happy TV" one is British, and one is American.
I'm not so fond of the American one, because I find what makes the show really funny is how the British react. It's still not bad though. The British one is great, I used to love it when I was in England. However, if you're watching it on Comedy Central, it's terribly, terribly cut and altered from it's original Channel 4 presentation. First off, is the fact that the original show is SO music oriented. Dom Jolly basically used the show to showcase his favorite music, he plays TONS of totally cool music, that is almost always fantastic. It plays so well with the sketches that I can't imagine them without it... the show seems totally EMPTY without the music. Also, there are cuts to a lot of the sketches. What goes on British prime time TV doesn't go so well here. A favorite gag of mine is when Dom Jolly is dressed up as a total punk (face peircings, spiked collar, KILL writen on his forehead ect) he's in a park and he starts chatting to an old man on a park bench about how beautiful the stone sculptures are. He then pulls out a book of poetry explaining how the poet Marvell wrote a poem about this park then proceeds to read a part of it to this man, who is of course, the typical British old man, and just tries to be so friendly, despite the situation being totally absured (which is why this show works so well.) In the end, the punk bids farewell, and walks off, revealing the words "F*** OFF" on the back of his jacket. Which is the final punchline, and of course didn't make it into the US version. I also somehow doubt that the jokes played on British celebritys make it into the US show very often. There's really no way to see the full episodes though... in England there are DVDs out, but they are "Best Of..." because of some legal reasons and they couldn't include absolutly everything (or so I'm told.) You can download a lot of clips of Kazaa though, including the one I've mentioned above... and with the kick ass music intact! |
