Re: Family Ties, one of the best shows ever?
One of my friends commented the other day how much she likes the song "At This Moment" by Billy Vera and the Beaters, but she had NOT seen the Family Ties episodes. So I'm lending her the DVDs.
I did a Facebook search for that discussion, and today Vera was posting about his memoirs, which I didn't even know existed. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....1hnr3KtZ-L.jpg |

They have the whole series on CBS All-Access, which is why I haven't canceled my subscription.
Brady Bunch too. And Cheers. And Frasier. And all the Star Treks. https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDUwWDMyO..._id=89040003C1 |

As much as I love Family Ties, mainly as a piece of nostalgia from my childhood, a couple of things always bothered me. First of all, the flashback shows they had once a season or so. Mainly though, I found tiresome the formula upon which almost every episode was predicated: An issue was raised, hashed out throughout the show, and invariably at the end one of the participants in the two-person drama would appear at the kitchen door. All the others would excuse themselves, exit stage right, and the two characters having the dispute would have a final edifying, redemptive conversation. It was so predictable.

6 bucks a month, I can stream them on CBS. I pretty much askew most (but not all) physical media anyhow (save for vinyl, some blu-rays, and some CDs since they are dirt cheap now).

True but I was a kid when it aired and never thought that deeply about it but I bet it holds up better than shows like Growing Pains and Full House where you think why did I watch that cheesy show? |

I liked it back in the day, but I haven't seen "Family Ties" in so many years that I don't know how well it holds up.
However Funny Or Die's recent "A Very Special Episode" about the one with Tom Hanks as drunk Uncle Ned is pure comedy gold. |

Re: Family Ties, one of the best shows ever?
rotfl F.T. has been airing every night at 9:30 here for a couple of years, and I have been so enjoying the trip down memory lane and the laughs from Michael Gross. Last night one of the show's funniest episodes aired: Mr. Tedesco.
"Any questions? No, not you. The old bag." "Alex, Tedesco could make a murderer of Gandhi." "OK, I'll have the chicken." |

No, it is not, not by a long shot.

Has anyone else played the Family Ties board game? The premise is to gather the family for a portrait and avoid Skippy.

Re: Family Ties, one of the best shows ever?
I loved this show as a kid, now I want to own all the episodes on disc----should I get the Complete Series, or the individually released seasons?
I've read that the Complete Series has some episodes out of order, but I don't know if that's the case for the individual season sets, or if there are any other differences in terms of editing or bonus features. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: Family Ties, one of the best shows ever?
PlutoTV is where I've been watching it recently. I haven't seen the show in years, when it originally aired when I was a teenager I never missed it, it was one of my favorites at the time. It still stands up for the most part, but I don't consider it a real classic.
