'24' marathon on FX Labor Day weekend

Attached link pretty much says it all. 24 straight hours of 24.

Whoa. Part of me is considering just taping this instead of dropping $60+ on the DVD set coming up later. I LOVED 24 during its first run, but the more I think about it, I don't know how much replay value I'd personally find in it. I'm thinking I can just rent the set from Blockbuster or something (*crosses fingers*) later on to check out the extras (which I really do want to see).

one minor problem about this, how are you gonna tape it if a tape lasts 10 hours at the most, and how long will the replay tv/tivo last.

also, what is good about the fx version is that we wont have the little stupid 30 second spoiler promo at the end. we just see the credits.

You change the tape at the 10 and 20 hour mark?
Nah, too easy.

My replay has an 80gig drive in it, so I'm good for 80 hours. I'll definitely be taping this. I'm dying to see what I missed.

I figure that TiVo can catch at least eight to ten hours. When I wake up in the morning, I can start transferring the TiVo'ed episodes to VCR, and delete them off my TiVo as I transfer them. It might be a little work intensive, but I think I can do it... does that sound about right to anyone else?

Then again, maybe I'll start hunting for a cheap drive I can pop into my TiVo to upgrade it.

for the cost of a cheap drive wouldn't it just be easier to pay the 45.00 when it is released? Plus isn't this supposed to be in DD with Anamorphic transfers?

True, a cheap drive would cost about the same, if not more... probably more... than just buying the set. However, if I did that, my TiVo would be upgraded for whatever else I wanted to record, rather than just having the 24 box set. DD & anamorphic is nice, and I like having those on the movies I watch... but I did without it on the first run of 24, and I could do without it on future viewings.

Will the 24 hour marathon start at Midnight and go untill midnight the next day? It would be awsome to do a 24 hour endurance marathon and watch the show in "real time".

How does sunrise and sunset work on the series? During which hour/episode are the transitions from night to day and day to night made?
