No, this is a season full of episodes that should have been shown during the past 2 seasons.

And i am glad it got canned...that way FOX cant treat it like an unwanted stepchild anymore.

Yeah. UAIOE is correct FOX is running episodes that were unaired due to football running over. I wonder how many times these unaired episodes will get pre-empted.

Oh and BTW it isn't "unwanted stepchild" as much as treating it like a BASTARD CHILD at a family reunion.

Futurama may not be dead. Check out this from

http://www.slashdot.org

This would be reason enough to have cable. MrChubble writes: "Seems that futurama isn't as dead as previously believed. Here is a quote from a someone's experience at ComicCon: "Julie Schwartz Slide Oddball Comics Show (Hilarious as usual), and at the FUTURAMA panel they showed a preview of a forthcoming episode in which Fry, Leela and Bender become super-heroes. One thing they didn't mention at the panel, was the news that FUTURAMA would be joining Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM in the near future." Is this too good to be true?"

It's almost certain that Futurama will be on Cartoon Network - most likely this Fall. What isn't as clear is when it will air. There's talk that it will be in Adult Swim once a week. There's also talk that since there are so many episodes available at once, they will strip the show Monday through Thrusday at 10p or 11p.

Either way, I love Futurama and I'm glad Cartoon Network will be picking up the show.

I'll tune in if its on Adult Swim...but i hope nothing about the show will be changed.

All i want is for those bastards at Fox to make up for the poor treatment of the show by releasing the entire series on DVD (in Region 1).

Would there be new episodes created for the cartoon network or just repeats of the FOX ones?

Why of course, the thrill of wondering whether or not Futurama will actually be on only enhances my viewing pleasure

Only the reruns, I'm afraid.

Here's the info for those that don't subscribe to Variety.

Toon Network Nabs Futurama

The Cartoon Network has bought the cable-TV rights to the 72 half-hour reruns of Fox's SF animated series Futurama, Variety reported. Cartoon will schedule Futurama somewhere in its weekly Adult Swim block, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Sundays, starting in January 2003, the trade paper reported.

A Sunday-night success on the Fox Network since it debuted in March 1999, Futurama has slipped in the ratings in the last year or so, the trade paper reported. Fox hasn't made it official, but the show is unlikely to come back after it burns off its final original 16 or so episodes during the upcoming 2002-'03 season, where it's scheduled on Sundays at 7 p.m., the trade paper added.

Reruns on cable...big deal. It probably will be released on DVD eventually. It's already on DVD in Europe. You could get a region free player and find someplace to order it from. I'm going to wait and see if it comes out in the states. I don't see why not. They might be waiting until it's run is complete on Fox.

Best news I have heard all day, FOX must be running these to make FUTURAMA eligible for syndication. Cartoon Network needs to grab more toons like FUTURAMA

I think it's probably worth noting THIS IS FOX'S OWN DOING.

For example, what did Fox think joining the season premiere 20 minutes in progress would do for the show's audience? The only way Fox could have mishandled this show even more would have been to shuffle it around the schedule without promotion. Even so, they basically did: who knew if Futurama would be on any Sunday from September to January?

But it was a fun game huh? Will it be on, won't it be on?

Will there be football postgame show...will it be a Simspons re-run in its place or a "King of the Hill" re-run?

But i'm damn glad after this season i wont have to continue playing this game anymore.

Frankly, they should have dropped Malcom in the Middle and put Futurama there. I liked the "dysfunctional family comedy show" alot better when it was called Married with Children

Wasn’t it stated in the previous thread about the cancellation that they were just 16 episodes short of eligibility for syndication? And now it turns out that Fox has exactly 16 more to air. But, won’t Cartoon Network reap the rewards of a DVD release and continuous airing on local channels?

I wonder if Fox airing the final 16 was a condition of the purchase agreement.
