Cheers: older cast vs newer cast (I know they're both old)
I am curious about others' views about this. Coach and Diane or Woody and Rebecca? I liked Diane way more than Rebecca, but I believe Coach and Woody to be equally matched.

Damn, that's tough. As much as I loved Coach and Diane, I gotta give the edge to the newer cast, esp. Woody. I agree, Rebecca could get annoying, but she wasn't that bad.

Woody and Rebecca, by far. Those were the shows best years.

Woody and Rebecca.
Although Woody was just a younger version of Coach, he was able to do it with charm. When I see the Coach episodes all I think is how annoying Coach's stupidity is.
Rebecca and Diane are a little tougher to choose but I'll take Rebecca because she's more likable (to me at least). Diane always came off as high and mighty. Rebecca was a loser just like the rest of the characters on Cheers so you pulled for her more.

I gotta question. Its been awhile since I've seen the show and I really don't remember it when it was still on the air (too young), correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't there a few episodes maybe a whole season where Woody and Coach were both around?

The actor who played Coach died, they brought in Woody Harrelson to replace him. They were never around at the same time.

The first episode with Woody involves him walking into the bar and talking about how Coach used to be his Pen-pal. He was wondering why he stopped writing, so he biked to the bar, and Sam told him that Coach had died

As for me? I just set up the DirecTivo to record ONLY the episodes of Cheers with Kirstie Alley in them, so you can probably guess which ones I prefer.....

I'm partial to the Woody/Rebecca years as that is when I discovered what became my favorite show of all time. I liked the Coach/Diane years as well but the show wouldn't have been as good for as long unless some new characters came along.
