What he said.

My #1 favorite piece of electronics.

In the fall I'm switching to DirecTivo - two tuners - I can't wait!

We had to leave at 4 AM to get to the airport and I was already asleep- so it would have been bad if he'd gone to sleep, too. (He's much better at staying up late). :p

But it is all info-mercials and junk on tv that late.

Tscott 07-17-02 11:15 AM

You can try keeping box sets of half-hour shows (Sex in the City, Simpsons, Mr Show, anime series, etc.) by the DVD player for quick access when ever you've got 30 mins. to kill. Works for me when I'm home for lunch and I don't want to flip through endless soaps, infomericals and Jerry Springer.:)

Rypro 525 07-17-02 11:20 AM

put tcm on in the late night hours.

tygloalex 07-17-02 12:21 PM

Peter Popoff the world's worst tele-vangelist.

latenight 07-19-02 09:45 AM

I remember when we only had the three major networks, pbs and 1 independent. I think there was just as much interesting stuff to watch then than there is now. 100's of channels and nothing but infomercials.
They say that somewhere at all times Star Trek and I Love Lucy is being aired. Where? Certainly not on my tv.

mookiemeister 07-19-02 11:39 AM

If you have a DVD player and some TV shows you enjoy on DVDs, you can watch the shows you like at 3am!

Wazootyman 07-20-02 12:28 AM

Don't they show the 3 AM avengers over there? The 3 AM avengers of course being a skit that Conan did when his show started rerunning at 3 AM

Jackskeleton 07-20-02 01:06 AM

this thread still around? I'm back home now, and not awake at the early hours. :p but tv at that time does suck

Mitsurugi 07-20-02 01:27 AM

I'm kinda watching a rerun of mad tv. These are the older ones, where Will Sasso is fat.

freedexter 07-20-02 02:49 AM

It's about 1 AM right now and I'm struggling to find anything to watch. I'm ashamed to admit this, but at around this time, "Lifetime" usually airs an hour of "Mad About You". It's better than nothing, or at least better than "Golden Girls" and "Designing Women". They are airing "Brokedown Palace' right now, though, but the ending is all too depressing, so I guess I'll just watch "Cribs" for the millionth time...

GatorDeb 07-20-02 03:28 AM

It's 1:33am PST... watching Judge Judy.

ReplayTV rules :)

GuessWho 07-20-02 06:25 AM

...and this is why you have a dvd player.

I comment on much the same thing with my 30-something friends who have been serious tv watchers over the years. I don't know much about the business of tv, but a lot of the classic shows that have gone into syndication have dissappeared from non-primetime evening hours on local channels.

Used to be 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and post-10:30 (after late local news) were pretty good for classic tv watching on your local stations... classic trek, hogans heroes, wkrp, mash (of course), jeffersons, sanford and son, all in the family, and on and on. Now of course the cable nets compete fiercely for that stuff and manage their showings very carefully.

It's certainly a different scene than it used to be.
