What villains from the 60's tv show never appeared in the comic book(Batman,Detective,etc.) and why did Gomez Addams(John Astin) appear as the Riddler when Frank Gorshin appeared in a later episode?

About all I can answer for sure on that is the thing on The Riddler. I guess Gorshin had another gig and couldn't get out of it. The Batman producers had a Riddler story and needed someone to play it, thus Astin. Another story meant for The Riddler was the two-parter with The Puzzler (Maurice Evans). Once again, Gorshin had another gig and they just changed the story to a character very similar to Riddler. I guess after Astin played the Riddler, Gorshin only had one more appearance and that was in a third season single episode (not a two-parter).

penguin, joker, catwoman, riddler, mr. freeze, mad hatter, clock king were all in the comics.
