David Bowie A&E Live By Request

Did anyone see this Saturday Night and if you did how was it and what did he play?

Yep it was damn good.

Played a few songs off the new disc which were good.

Played Ziggy Stardust, China Girl, Fame...a bunch of others.

Moby called in and requested Sound and Vision...excellent tune.

His band was real tight...sounded great.

I hope this makes it to DVD soon. It was excellent. Bowie looked very happy and was acting a bit goofy, and some of the calls were pretty funny.

Here's a rundown of some of the songs:

I'm afraid of americans
Ashes to Ashes
Sound and Vision
Slip Away
Slow Burn
Changes
Ziggy Stardust
Starman (I've waited for years to hear this one live)
Fame
Heroes
Let's Dance
China Girl
Angels have gone (or whatever it's called...don't have the cd handy at the moment)

Mike Garson kept teasing me with "Time" everytime they went to a commercial. I love that song, yet they *never* played it all the way through. Dammit.

It was a very good show. Bowie is in wonderful form these days.

The little kid calling in for Ashes to Ashes was very cute. I think he was five years old. He hung up on Bowie out of excitement or something.

And then there was a call from someone in the audience (cell phone). Bowie noticed a weird echo, so he started searching for the guy in the audience, dragged him onstage, then told him "Stay on the line, this is too funny." When the guy asked for Heroes, Bowie said, "I'm sorry, the line just went dead." :D

S41T!

When will this be repeated?

A very good show. Can't believe the man is 55, he's looking very good -- I wouldn't peg him as much over 40.

I agree. Bowie & band were in tremendous form. Nice to see Earl Slick pairing up with him again. I look forward to a DVD release of this minus that horrible kiss-@$$ host. Everything else is a keeper...

Great set China Girl, Let's Dance and Sound + Vision being the standouts. Awkward evening of phone calls from middle america offset by Bowie's kick ass band cool charm.
The I'm Afraid of Americans closer sounded like Rage Against the Machine fronted by Bowie
A&E repeats these on the weekends usually after the performance a week or two.

Its on again right now, if anyone's paying attention.

The songs sound a little to mellow to me though. Its like alot of them don't have alot of energy. I think its the band more so than Bowie, though.

Edited to add that "Sound and Vision" was really awesome - one pf my favorite Bowie tunes.
