Happy, Happy! Joy, Joy! Ren & Stimpy back on TV!

http://nypost.com/entertainment/49079.htm

Ren & Stimpy are staging a comeback.

The animated dog-and-cat combo, who created a stir on Nickelodeon in the early '90s with their graphically gross antics, will romp in a series of new adventures airing on Nick sister network TNN, TV Guide reports in its June 8 issue (on newsstands June 3).

TNN will produce new episodes of the series and will bring back series creator John Kricfalusi, who left Nickelodeon in 1992 in a nasty clash with management. Kricfalusi voiced Ren, the Chihuahua - a part that was subsequently taken over by the voice of Stimpy, Billy West (the only guy I've ever heard do a dead-on impersonation of Larry from the Three Stooges).

TNN will air the new "Ren & Stimpy" episodes, as well as 52 previously aired episodes, in early 2003 as part of a prime-time animation block, according to TV Guide's Max Robins.

I can't wait!

Oops... missed that thread.

It's still worthy of another thread. You can never go wrong with Ren & Stimpy!

I figured you were posting as a heads up for the TVGuide article, not Ren and Stimpy.
One thing I'm wondering about. How will it be drawn? Since TNN loves the black bar, will the animators take that into consideration? Or will they draw it for normal 4:3 tv, and then TNN will squish it?

That's my concern. I hate TNN for that stupid and useless black bar.

Now some real drama speculation: who will do Stimpy's voice, since Billy West did both Ren & Stimpy's parts after JK left the show and is probably looked at by the creator as a 'turncoat'?

By the way, nearly every single episode I tried to watch after JK's departure was completely unwatchably awful.

Now this is good news. I hope John K. hasnt lost his touch. His last show "The Ripping Friends" was a bit of a disappointment.

In an interview on Howard Stern, John K. compared Billy West to Hitler. And it only got worse from there. It was very funny though. But I doubt they will be working together anytime soon.

Billy West is a really great voice actor. He'll probably be needing the work too since Futurama is done for

Sadness

I will miss thee Futurama, you were the funniest.

But i am somewhat happy that Stimpson J. Cat and Ren Hoek will be returning....and in the same format that the 1st season was.

After they went to SNick, it was all downhill...

Saddens me to hear that. I NEVER saw the show because it was so poorly publicized and distributed. I had been hearing about it for years as a John K. "dream project" and then all of a sudden it was like "Oh, it's been on for months!"

Is it still on some cable network or something?

It was on FOX saturday mornings and hasnt aired since January. They also removed it from the FOX Kids web site. So it doesnt look like the show will be returning to FOX even in reruns. You can order the Episodes from Lions Gate though.
