South Park 05/22/2002

Any idea what eposide is going to be shown tonight? I don't see any indications in the TV listings. I know it's going to be a rerun but it still would be nice to know what episode.

From Comedy Central Cheatsheet email:

In "Hooked on Monkey Fonics," the boys compete against a couple of home-schooled kids in South Park's annual spelling bee.
From SouthParkStudios.com:

"Notorious! Notorious! (Cue latter day Duran Squared musical stylings.)

Yes, yes, Comedy Central will air South Park's Fifth Most Notorious Episode
tonight. They've been giving clues (in the form of a clip) at nearly every
commercial break on the network - so you've probably seen it by now.
The clue for tonight's episode was pretty explicit so I won't get into it if
you haven't. Ha-Ha! (Think Nelson from The Simpsons.)
New episodes start again June 26th.

what is so contraversial about this episode?

Nothing really - I think it is just Comedy Central's attempt to call the re-runs something other than "Most Popular Episodes" Marathon or something - whatever they called it last year.

They ran "Timmy 2000", not Monkey Phonics. Any ideas on what the other 4 controversial episodes will be? I'm guessing Cartman Joins NAMBLA, It Hits the Fan, the Sex Ed Episode, and I don't know what else.

icondude 05-23-02 07:59 AM

It certainly explains why they weran't in the TV listings. Yes, I likes the Ritilin episode from last night, but I wouldn't put it in my top 5. I hope the NABMLA one is one of the otehr 5, I haven't seen that one yet.

I'm sure the 160-some occurances of "s*it" episode is one of them.

That's the "It Hits the Fan" episode.

Richers and Cashchuckers moving into South Park is probably one of the top-5 most controversial.

It would be hard to come up with a top 5 because so many episodes have been out there, but I would pick (and on no particular order):

1. Not Without My Anus
2. It Hits the Fan
3. The Entity
4. Proper Condon Usage
5. Cartman Joins NAMBLA

The Timmy 2000 (Ritilin episode) certainly isn't in my top 5!

Yeah. That was a strange choice.

Yeah. That was a strange choice.

Perhaps they thought the hitting the kids was "notorious", or something (the alternative treatment to Ritilin). That was certainly my favorite part of the episode.

:hscratch:

Jason 05-24-02 07:17 PM

I think Timmy himself is supposed to be the controversial part.

I love that alternative treatment for ADD. Shut up and study! whapp! -biggrin-

Based upon the previews, I think the "Chicken Lover" episode is one of the four remaining "Notorious episodes"

1. Not Without My Anus

This episode has only been aired once. It pissed people off so badly that they have never aired it again (came on April Fool's Day when the "Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut Part 2" was supposed to be aired). It is only controverial for that reason.

NAMBLA is definitely up there and "It Hits the Fan" too. The herpes episode called "Chickenpox" was pretty awful too. Some tough choices to be made. :D

I know Not Without My Anus was only aired once. But it's still be funniest episode ever. I mean can you do better than a half hour of fart jokes? You would think it would easily be the #1 most notorious pick. You would think that they would get off on all the complaints.

Wierd

I just got my Comedy Central Cheatsheet for 5/28, and they said:

We're counting down the most notorious South Park episodes ever! Last week was the outrageous "Something to Do With Your Finger," and that was just No. 5! What episode will be No. 4? Tune in to find out, and don't miss the rest of the countdown to the Most Notorious South Park Ever!
But it wasn't... it was definitely Timmy 2000... here is the description of Something You Can Do With Your Finger:

Episode 409:
Something You Can Do With Your Finger
Original Air Date: 07-12-2000
"Fingerbang" is the latest boy band starring the four boys. Randy Marsh is against Stan's participation in any boy band for dark reasons. The boys land a gig at the local mall when it is threatened because there are only 4 members in the band. Stan arrives and the group is set to perform when suddenly the mall elevator tragically crushes Kenny. A former boy band member steps into the spotlight to save the gig.

Whatever....

The NAMBLA episode was excellent. This episode was hilarious!
