Conan 5/18 (triumph)

How hilarious was Triumph's performance ripping on the people waiting on line? Now I don't have anything against the people in line and I like Star Wars, but man did those people strike anyone else as just strange? One of the best jokes was when he was talking to the pregnant lady and asks her due date. Then he finishes saying "that's the last time he'll see a woman's genitals." Priceless. So did anyone else find that extremely funny?
Will Ferrel was also funny as Robert Goulet. Good show.

zig 05-18-02 12:52 AM

Yeah it was pretty funny. I'm glad the nerds had a good sense of humor about it too, made them seem less pathetic.

Johnny wilson 05-18-02 02:25 AM

Fucin hiliarious

btlives 05-18-02 03:12 AM

Am still laughing. My favorite was when he asked Darth Vader
what the chest switches were for.

"Is this one to call your mommie"

Boot 05-18-02 10:47 AM

That was a riot. I too thought it was cool that the "nerds" were able to laugh at themselves. They seemed to be enjoying it as much as Triumph himself, which makes it more entertaining.

I don't know why there's always a debate over Letterman and Leno when Conan's show is clearly superior to either of theirs.

TheMadMonk 05-18-02 11:00 AM

Yes, great show all around.

Triumph rocks. And Spock walking past the line flipping everyone off. Great Stuff.

clemente 05-18-02 11:55 AM

Someone quick, notify me when this clip is availble on-line, that was one of the best Triump bits ever, right up there with the first two Dog show bits.

He really let the geeks (c'mon, they were geeks!) have it. I laughed all the way through.

"C'mon, which parent made you do this?"

Because Conan starts an hour later :D
Hilarious bit though. What was with that freaky Lord of The Rings Guy? He was just plain weird.

the aftermath 05-18-02 01:32 PM

I missed Conan.. Shame on me! :(

Mike_AA 05-18-02 01:38 PM

Yeah I hope nobody here was offended ;)

Hilarious. Those nerds deserved it, I mean, I was even in shock.

How 'bout when he took the stormtrooper's mask off and saw the dorks' ugly face and then yelled for him to put it back on....classic.

caiman 05-18-02 05:11 PM

This was definately the FUNNIEST Triumph skit ever. His responses to those geeks were excellent! What was the deal with that black guy dressed as Gandolf? I wanted to kill that guy. Luckily Triumph let him have it pretty good.

I'd go one further and say that was one of the FUNNIEST things I've seen on tv ever. Oh man, I was laughing so hard I missed most of the stuff. Thank god Conan has the smarts to control how much they use Triumph on the show, so when he (Robert Smigel) does something, it's much funnier.

Cardiff Giant11 05-18-02 06:00 PM

I found it really funny how the guy controlling triumph (is that Smiegel?) was laughing when he was responding to the nerds. Man I really gotta see that bit again. Definitely the best Triumph bit ever. I'd say my second favorite was the one at the dog show.

Yeah, it's Smiegel. He does the puppetry and the voice. He also does the voice of Bill Clinton on the Clutch Cargo sketchs.

Mike_AA 05-18-02 06:22 PM

Someone has to get that online. If anyone has information or anything else, e-mail me at [email protected]

Wormwood 05-18-02 08:05 PM

How do they do it? Is the guy holding the puppet also doing the voice while the people he's insulting see the guy doing the voice while all we see is the puppet?

Bingo. Have you noticed how many times the camera shifts and we see not only his arm sticking out of the puppet, but also his other arm controlling the dog arm.

Thanks. :)

AmazingColossalPumaMan 05-19-02 12:08 AM

That was great, and the part where the guy dressed as Spock flipped all the SW geeks off had me rolling.

Also, on a side note, I got to see Triumph live a few weeks ago. Apparently he's coming out with a CD...those songs were definately interesting.

spainlinx0 05-19-02 03:09 AM

So is it up for download yet? I NEED this clip.

AJW 05-19-02 03:13 AM

Don't know how long this link will work but here it is as a wmv clip in a 17 MB zip file. I got the link from a Conan newsgroup post.

http://www.pyramid-tech.net/images/h...4me2p00p0n.zip

Maybe someone here can host it permanently?

UWSarge 05-19-02 03:46 AM

It's on usenet (alt.binaries.multimedia) as a 50MB avi file.

Fielding Mellish 05-19-02 09:04 AM

AJW,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

That is the hardest I've laughed in months. May the force be with you... for me to poop on.

Snake Plissken 05-19-02 05:12 PM

This was so funny!

William Wallace 05-19-02 06:34 PM

LOL!!!

"Look its a nerd from another dimension!"

"There must be a Korean guy under there"

In robotic voice: "I AM A STORMTROOPER"
