Wow, you must be very lucky to have never seen the movie version of The Avengers.

I agree with your assessment of Buffy though.

Buffy is one of the only good movie to TV conversions. Except for some Disney movies making the jump from Movies (ok more like release to video) Buzz Lightyear is a good show. Tarzan not really good but watchable. I just wonder how the "Legally Blonde" show will do. It is on ABC and we all know what happened to that one great show that only survived 2 episodes. It was a movie first. I wonder what it could of beem.

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer~ simply because Mutant Enemy/Joss Whedon took a lackluster movie and spun it into gold

2. MASH~ because it took a great movie and made it into a spectacular TV series

I thought Fame was pretty good.

And Tscott is very correct, The Avengers and also I' might add Lost in Space come in WAY before you can slam Mission: Impossible, dvd-4-life.

Buffy and Highlander.

Anyone remember Friday the 13th, the tv show? HORRIBLE!! When you think of Friday the 13th, you think of Jason, a hockey mask, and people bleeding all over the place...but the show had NOTHING to do with the movie. The show was about these people that ran an antique store, and they had to get everything back that they had sold because it was all cursed or haunted. BAD BAD BAD.

Buffy
Highlander
Stargate

I liked Friday the 13th even though it had nothing to do with some of the lamest movies ever made. The show was way better, IMO, than the movies could ever be.

Soul Food I find it better than the movie. The characters come off as real people IMO not like the movie that had "stars" playing real people.

I agree with just about everyone, except for the stargate SG-1 part. I have tried to watch this show, figuring I would learn to love it, but it just seems bad. Did I give up too soon?

The Avengers was terrible BTW.

It was never supposed to have any relation to the movie though. It simply shared the title.
Now if you want to talk horror movie to bad TV, that had had little resemblance to it's movie counterpart-Freddy's Nightmares.

Back to the question- Odd Couple would be my pick. I think it equaled the movie, and stayed constantly good throughout it's run.

The best in this category IMO are:

Buffy, Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica(if you want to count that)

Don't forget about The Outsiders and Ferris Bueller's Day Off!

Seriously though, I thought last season's The Fugitive on CBS was a good series. Even though it was based on a series, that produced a movie based on it.

Gondorspit....I agree with you. I have tried & tried
to like/view this series, and just do not get it either.

Seems to be well be made for a syndicated series.
I guess its just not my flavor month or whatever.

It has to be Fame ! Although the show took itself too seriously, I enjoyed it tremendously. What a great show! I'd buy that on DVD too!
