Favorite recurring Conan Skit

After being VERY dissapointed when I saw that Conan was doing "If They Mated" tonight, I needed to occupy myself for 10 minutes to avoid being forced to watch that.

So to occupy me, which is your favorite recurring Conan Skit

Actual Items: Like Headlines from Leno, but funny
Clutch Cargo: Where the lips are over celebs
Holiday Parties: Bizarre pictorials
On the Aisle: Movie reviews
If They Mated: Ughhhhhhhhhh
_____ SECRETS!: B-level stars (Shatner, John Tesh, Snoop Dogg, etc) reveals various "secrets"
In the Year 2000: Bizarre predictions of what will occur... 2 years ago

Hmmm, having trouble thinking of any other regular skits now

I voted for "On the Aisle" since that is the most consistently funny skit. However, Actual Items did come in a close second

Static Cling 04-10-02 12:07 AM

Color me a Clutch Cargo fan. I'd vote for Triumph, but unfortunately, he's not recurring anymore.

No option for Pimpbot5000? Are they still doing that skit?

zig 04-10-02 12:29 AM

holiday parties rock! :p

________ Secrets are great too, but too short to be considered a favorite.

Clutch Cargo is my least favorite.. I generally change the channel or just tune it out because it's just plain boring.

WhoGirl 04-10-02 01:03 AM

Actual Items and Clutch Cargo.

i don't watch it enough to know what the segments are called, but some of them are priceless. i like when he goes out and talks to people on the street. like the time he was in a greyhound bus station at 3am asking crazy people if they knew that his show was on. i also remember him waking some college kid up in the middle of the night too. they bust into his room and he's like, "heyyyyy, it's conan o'brien!!!" the kid was just like, "whaaaa?" with this bewildered look on his face.

what's the skit called where they drive around in the car in front of a blue screen? the went down steps one time and were bouncing up and down and for some reason i laughed my ass off for 10 minutes after that. he certainly has his moments.

I like most of what is on the show, but my favorite is definately the secrets skits. I laugh out loud everytime those are on

SnoopDogg 04-10-02 01:49 AM

B Level!! What!

granadio 04-10-02 01:55 AM

Anything involving Mr. T or Joel gets me going. What I would give to have a smile like Joel.

How about Triumph the Insult Dog?

At the time of my vote, every choice had exactly one vote, except for Twikoff. Aw poor Twikoff :(

I love almost anything that Conan does. My favorite would be Clutch Cargo and If They Mated. I was dissapointed becuase ive been to see him twice and he did niether of the two. I also like when he sings those goodnite songs/lullabies and the couple of times he does the Closed Captioning.

das Monkey 04-10-02 05:58 AM

I want to vote for Triumph, but Shatner Secrets was one of the funniest things they ever did, and the subsequent ones have been almost as funny.

Hands down, the best thing Conan ever did though ... Dudez a Plenti ... unfortunately, it was a one time thing.

Actually, it was a two time thing. About a year after he put the group together, he had a skit with him filming a video for their new song... something about being awesome.

The first one was funnier, but both were hilarious.

"Baby, I wish you were my baby -- I'll make you make a baby..."

"... and girl I will protect you; I promise not to sex you..."

(quotes may not be 100% accurate)

Crap, I never saw the second one. I figured they had to pull the idea after that guy from 2Gether really did have to use a respirator.

"Let's make electric power ... in fear you should now cower ..."
"And ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-aaaaaaah ... ah-aaaaaaaaah"

"You, your name is now Lorraine."
"What's your name?"
"Lorraine."
"No. It's Samantha."

"You get a Ritz cracker ... and ... and ... that's it."

Damn, I'd give anything for a copy of that on tape (or mpeg).

When Andy Richter was still on the show, nothing could beat the "good, old-fashioned staring contest." :D

I vaguely remember the music video version. They had like a really crappy budget and all of the 'Dudez' were wearing different outfits. Pretty funny from what I can remember.

Secrets and Clutch Cargo are the best IMO.

Geofferson 04-10-02 08:57 AM

I like them all!!! The If They Mated skit last night was hilarious!

yeah, Raymond is there.

One of my favorite skits that they only do maybe once or twice a year is the guy with bulletproof legs.

the masturbating bear is also good when they pull him out of retirement.

the absolute best ever, was when Andy was still on and his "sister" would be in the audience. hands down, was some of the funniest skits I've ever seen.

If I had to pick from the list, I'd have to say The Year 2000 or If They Mated.

Andy's "sister" was some funny stuff. "In the Year 2000" with Mr. T is even better than with Andy.

"Oh ... I've ... got ... bulletproof legs ..."

Clutch Cargo (never knew it had a name)

The best was when they had Clinton and/or Dole on there.

ClarkKentKY 04-10-02 10:45 AM

I have to say Shatner Secrets, and Snoop Dog Secrets were the funniest things i've seen in quite a while. Sometimes in the year 2000 can still be funny. Clutch Cargo is great. I'm not a fan of Actual items. If they mated is a classic, but it's seemed weak lately. All Conan says is "Ohhhh, why!" everytime they show a picture.

Although we're leaving out one important recurring skit. DRIVING THE DESK! :)

(What about Pimpobot, and the masterbating bear)

Alot of the remote shots that Conan does are hilarious. I remember the one where he went to harlem to see the neighborhood reaction to bill clinton coming to town. He went to the carnagie deli to get a sandwich named after him, and abe vigoda made a small cameo. And then the all time classic where MrT and Conan go to an applefarm!

I think the funniest things lately besides last nights "If they Mated" was the Jesus Sports statues. Where he showed all these little statues of Jesus playing different sports with kids, that was halarious.

i thought those statues were real. i swore i saw them on some christian web page for sale.

anyway . . i hear ya clarkkentky, i always liked the masturbating bear and pimpbot 2000 skits too. my favorite one was when pimpbot came on when ice-t was one of the guests. pimpbot comes out during the middle of the conversation between conan and ice and starts talking to ice about his b****es and pimpin. the look on ice's face was priceless because he looked like he was gonna rip somebody's head off.

The first two times he showed them they were real, from a catalogue. Then the third time they were ones the show made up like Rodeo Jesus.

The second one had the "Awesome" song:
"Girl, you're so awesome baby .... Awesomeness is awesome baby"

My favorite bit however is the staring contests he used to have with Andy.
