I need DirecTV MLB Extra Innings help - Ohio
 

I am a Cincinnati Reds fan living in Columbus OH. My default team is Cleveland and Fox Sports Ohio. My question is if I sign up for extra innings package will I be able to watch Reds games on Fox Sports Cincinnati while Cleveland is on Fox Sports Ohio. I've called Directv three times and have not been able to get a straight answer. They say that I am in the black out area for Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh but none of the operators can tell me how that will affect me.

I would appreciate any info.

If they told you that you're in the blackout area for the Reds, than Extra Innings won't help you. But if you're in the blackout area, I think you're *supposed* to have access to the regular RSN broadcasts for the team.

Here is an explanation from an old Directv FAQ:

"You can see out-of-market Major League Baseball games with MLB EXTRA INNINGS. If a subscriber lives in the home team boundaries of a team that is not featured on their in-market RSN, they will see that team through additional in-market RSNs available via a Gold or Platinum upgrade and not on MLB EXTRA INNINGS. A good rule to remember is a subscriber will not see a team that claims that subscribers zip code as part of the team's "home team" territory play on MLB EXTRA INNINGS."

If this is still true (I'd check before changing your package) and they told you accurately that you are claimed by the Reds, then I think what you want is the regular sports package or the platinum package, and then you can watch it on Fox Sports Cincinnati.

Could you give me a link to this FAQ - It would be great if I could just order the Fox Sports networks.

That is really wierd that they give you the Cleveland network instead of Cincinnati's since you are probably about 30 to 40 minutes closer to Cincinnati. There might be some kind of appeal you can do to get a waiver or domething like they offer with their local channel service.

if the reds are your in market team, you will not get them with mlb ei regardless of which regional sports network their games are broadcast on.

Whether the games are home or away, if the reds are your in market team, you will be blacked out unless they are playing on your in market sports network.
