Er 3/28

Romano shows some "rare" compassion . . . .

What an episode.

That made the episode for me. Romano's always been my favorite character. He's shown before that he can have some compassion (signing with Reese), but never this direct.

Patman 03-29-02 07:43 AM

"Is he your husband?"

"Do you love him."

Damn, just when you want to really hate a character, he goes soft on ya! :)

The rest of the episode was average, and I can't believe Mark's last day IN the ER is the next episode. I'm sure we'll be treated to some more home life shots as Mark battles cancer for the reminder of the season.

I never got to see that scene since I fell asleep about 40 min. into the episode. What a bore this episode was.

What!?! You missed out on the HOT LESBIAN ACTION! :)

Romano spoke the words that I was thinking at that same exact moment. Lizzy redemed herself finally.

Corny. That was so out of character for him. He should have just said: "You can take a few months leave if you need." and then left the room. That would have been more like it.

Patman 03-29-02 10:50 AM

Romano should have said:

"Look, Lizzy, you're married to a stiff, take a few months off, bury the poor bastard and when you get back, think about us hooking up, okay?"

 that would have been so wrong

the episode was decent. they probably could have taken out over half of it and i wouldn't have noticed.

ClarkKentKY 03-29-02 12:34 PM

Liz: "What am i supposed to do, go home and just watch him die"
Romano: "Yes"

Every once in a while you get to see romano is a human. For me it was when lucy died, and when he signed something to reece behind benton's back and smiled at him.

It was a good episode, but very slow moving.

Spoiler:
Next week's TV guide synopsis
Training a zealous intern (Mekhi Phifer) leads Greene to a life-altering realization about the future of his own medical care---and his ability to provide it to others. Elsewhere, a junkie gets a lesson in life's hardships after she goes into premature labor; a museum worker displays signs of a legendary ailment usually attributed to the undead; and Corday is forced to give in to a terminal patient's demands to die with dignity.

Yet the preview for next week said nothing about that. Just a bunch of slow motion shots of Greene. And then the week after that we're lucky enough to get another rerun. :(

GoldenJCJ 03-29-02 02:08 PM

I liked this episode. It was a little slow moving but I guess all of these that focus mainly on Dr. Greene are going to be a little slower paced than ER is used to.

Romano is the best character on the show. He knows exactly when to be sensitive and when to be an a$$.

"What's the matter? Prince Harry in rehab again?"

dave955 03-29-02 02:49 PM

Romano would be a caricature rather than a character if he were always an *******. It's the moments -- few and far between -- where he drops his cocky demeanor and shows some sensitivity that make the other 99% of his actions so real and so humorous.

I'm sure that's what he was thinking. He just tried to be Mr. Smooth.

Did I blink and miss this sub-plot wrap up, or did they not come to any conclusion with the "I-Can't-Talk-But-I-Can-Offer-You-Any-Of-Several-Knitted-Items" guy?

Anyone?

i don't think they actually came to a real conclusion

the social worker said that he had witnessed his mother having a heart attack 2 days ago which is why he wasn't talking. some kinda post traumatic stress condition. he had a sister who was flying in to see him but they didn't show the reunion, at least i don't think they did.

I missed this part. Thanks.

Still not a real wrap up, but better than I thought.

Patman 03-29-02 07:58 PM

You know what's surreal? I found out earlier this week that a co-worker is going for a liver tranplant operation (getting 70% of his brother's liver), and would be out for 2 months for recovery. Then I see this ER episode, and it all hit home a bit too close.
