they let them go?!?!? why? I would have downloaded all the data from their computers, taken their warp drive (if it was better than warp 5), weapons, etc. Then keep them in the brig and take them to Earth for interrogation
next week,

and even then there was no communication
although humans had contact with 3 ferengi and a changling in the form of a dog in 1947 on DS9
the opening credits said "story by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga" which explains it, they know nothing of trek history

As I remember in Next Generation, the Enterprise first contact Ferengi, Picard or Riker said that they heard rumors about Ferengi but never seen them before.

well this was explained away, apparently somewhere on the forum here, that since the Ferengi were never identified in Enterprise, that was a true encounter. I know it's stupid, but I seem to remember someone explaining it that way.

This episode confirms my theory that Clint Howard plays a role in every show and movie ever made since he was born.
Is it my imagination or does Tripp stuff socks in his undies?

Spoiler:
The acting on the part of the Ferengi was good, I'll admit, but the plot was just plain bad.

I really enjoyed the episode. I thought it was one of the best eps of the season. Now I totally agree that last week's episode sucked.

I KNEW that was Clint Howard! That dude was meant to play a Ferrengi.
I thought this was a great episode. Even my wife laughed at some of the jokes. She busted up when N'pol gave the ear job. I liked the little interaction between Archer and N'pol at the end too.

Spoiler tag guidelines... again...
1. If the event was already aired as part of the main show, please don't put tags on it.
2. Previews show events that haven't "happened" yet... if it's in a preview and the main show hasn't aired yet, please put tags on it.
Some people in this thread were doing the exact opposite, which makes no sense to me.

FWIW, I agree that it was one of the season's more fun episodes... Of course for some of us, having Trip run around in his underwear for half the show didn't hurt either...

It was an ok episode. Instead of caves they're running around in the jeffrey's tubes (sp?). And more gratuitous Porthos...
Seriously though, I think this episode had it's moments. The lobe massage, etc. And I agree that the plan was wayyy too complicated. I was waiting the entire episode for someone to jump one of those Ferengi and take his gun. Instead they concoct the "plan" used at the end ... A little unecessary methinks.
Could've been worse

I'll chime in with those who thought this was a good episode. Top notch acting from some well-known guest stars and lots of fun all around. It was fun without being cheesy and reminded me of the old days of Trek. There was no real danger, and Archer and Co. had to use their wits to outsmart the stupid aliens. Classic Trek.

In fairness to those who didn't like the ep, I agree that it suffered from "the idiot plot"--the episode would have only lasted 5 minutes if everyone, including the crew, hadn't acted like total morons... Fortunately, the guest cast--and some surprisingly (for Enterprise) snappy dialog--made me smile enough to be a bit more forgiving than usual...

congrats
I didn't know it had to be spoilered since it wasn't really a plot thing, just a guest star
