Simpsons 3.17.02

Simpsons is off to a great start tonight

Spoiler:

"From now on, when anyone gets wood, they'll think of Trojan"

"Just because their heads are cut off, doesn't mean they're dead."

darkside 03-17-02 07:19 PM

The river Styx was pretty funny. The Joan of Arc part wasn't that great, but overall its a good episode.

caiman 03-17-02 07:27 PM

"I’ll blow them off… course."

"Discuss Stu is talkin' to you."

hotaru_san 03-17-02 07:37 PM

victory, this is France, we don't even have a word for that (or something like that) :p

That was one of the best episodes I've seen in a few weeks, I think the odessy story was my favorite, but lisa was a great Ophelia :D

BabiG 03-17-02 07:59 PM

Yea, Discus stew was good.

Oh and in Joan of arc, when the one of the english guys gets hit with an arrow..."AHHHHHHHHHHHHHohmyword!"

das Monkey 03-17-02 08:00 PM

Loved Hamlet and making fun of the French. Odyssey was pretty good too.

das

Phil L. 03-17-02 08:19 PM

"When people get wood, they'll always think of Trojans"

good line

River Styx was good too.

With Styx music playing..."Now I know we're in hell"

Snake Plissken 03-17-02 09:42 PM

good episode

freedexter 03-17-02 10:21 PM

My local FOX station decided to run a news promo right during the end of the first story (the Homer's Oddessey). I never saw the ending, but I did learn that at 10, I can learn about the history of St. Patrick's Day!

Gdrlv 03-17-02 10:30 PM

Good episode, but couldn't they think of any way to end it? That ending was lame and pointless.

I kinda liked the ending, it caught me off guard, so I thought it was funny. :D

I also enjoyed:
*that was a lot easier to eat than the bambi video cassette*
:p

madcougar 03-17-02 10:44 PM

These three part story-telling episodes have sort of become a tradition. They had the bible stories, tall tales, and this one. I can't recall if that's all of them.

There was also the one that was a play on Run Lola Run.

I loved this episode. Hilarious.

Don't forget the Halloween episodes!

Arrgh! Tivo cut off the ending...can someone please post what happened right after the last story ended (back in the living room, Homer begins to speak, then my Tivo stops). Thanks in advance.

Arcade 03-18-02 12:36 AM

The line that mad me laugh the most tonight was when Moe said to Bart in the Hamlet story:

"You sure you don't want a nice piece of fish, or finger the drapes a little."

Homer says that Hamlet was remade into a movie...Ghostbusters. Then the theme for Ghostbusters starts up and the whole family starts dancing. That's it.

Didn't care for the ending but I really like these type of episodes.
The writers get a break and get to have some fun with other classic literature and we get to see which characters get which roles.
These are fun and slightly educational (gasp!)
But they aren't the funniest episodes.

kunert 03-18-02 12:54 PM

Can anyone tell me what Marge said after eating the page from the book? Something about it didn't taste as bad as ........video?

I was laughing so hard during this episode I missed that.

JohnPhoenix 03-18-02 01:09 PM

I thougher her quote was posted above, but I couldnt find it.

she said something like "well, it tasted better than that Bambie video."

hotaru posted it earlier: that was a lot easier to eat than the bambi video cassette

kunert 03-18-02 01:15 PM

Thanks guys, I feel dumb. I was hoping it was something funnier than that, though.

Phil L. 03-18-02 01:48 PM

I thought Marge's was pretty funny in the context of what she was doing.
Supposedly hiding scarry, or violent story events from the kids.

Darren Garrison 03-18-02 10:44 PM

But-- but-- this episode had a major flaw! After Homer returned from the Odessy, he tells Mar-- uh, Penelope, that he's going to Moes. But Homer ATE Moe YEARS ago! Man, someone's going to get fired over that!

Well if you think about it, Homer's really an idiot. So he probably forgot that he ate Moe and just went to Moe's out of habit. Also Moe does not actually have to be in the bar for Homer to go there; there might be some other dude bartending.... but this is very unlikely. I'm sticking with, "Homer is an idiot."
