Finally ... they started promoting this in August of 2001. I hope it's good.

Will this be on any other time this week? I am really wanting to see it, but there is just too much other stuff on Tuesday nights. Thanks.

Why are they running this opposite 24 of all things?

They're not. Its right after 24. (10E/9C)

Is this the show that began life as "Rampart" based on the LA Rampart division police scandal?

It actually began life as "The Barn" and then some studio exec changed it to "Rampart" to jump on the current event buzz, but they soon realized that was stupid and could actually hurt them, so the writer came up with the title "The Shield."

Here's a list of the other times it's on for those who miss it or watch something else Tuesdays:

Tuesday, Mar 12 - 10:00 PM e/p
Tuesday, Mar 12 - 11:00 PM e/p
(yes, back to back)

Friday, Mar 15 - 11:00 PM e/p
Sunday, Mar 17 - 10:00 PM e/p
Tuesday, Mar 19 - 09:00 PM e/p
Saturday, Mar 23 - 09:00 PM e/p

Something odd- except for the pilot (which has it for all but the 3/19,3/23 airings), all the episodes' first airing say "less breaks" next to the title. Should I assume that the "less breaks" eps. are longer?

Very interesting beginning to this series. It definitely intrigued me enough to watch it again next week.

And I never saw that ending coming.

Nice, very nice!

Definately kept me watching all the way through. I'll be catching this next week, and from the look of the previews they showed this very well could be a show I'll make sure to catch every week.

My onlygripe (and its not really the shows fault) is that its quite similar to Training Day at least in this first episode.

I like the language....not merely for the sake of language, but it makes it seem slightly more grounded in reality. Its hard to take Sipowicz seriously when he has to say "scumbag" ten times an episode.

Spoiler:
Too bad Reed Diamond won't be in any future episodes.

I'm not going to make any judgements based on one episode, but the first one did enough to make me want to watch next week.

I'm with indianajdp, I never saw the end coming and even when it did, it took a second to realize what had just happened.

Great twist at the end...it'll be interesting to see how long they can keep this up.

It's funny that FX allows salty language, nudity, etc on this show, but edits them out of feature films when they show them.
