The Critic is back!

I always thought this show got the shaft way too soon.

Brand new The Critic episodes, complete with Jon Lovitz, and produced by the original team.

Shockwave 5 stuff looks great, especially for this style of animation. I Only wished they allowed you to make the window full screen. Oh well, fun stuff. :)

Eternia 02-03-02 07:16 PM

AWESOME! I am going to check these out ASAP.

Thanks for the link/info!

Um ... we also landed on the moon. :D

I enjoyed watching these when they came out. Hopefully they'll make a new one sometime soon. We've been sitting on that Pearl Harbor one for a few months now.

Awesome!!!

Eric F 02-03-02 07:45 PM

Well, they're new to me anyways.

Maybe we'll see Family Guy go the same route.

Anyone know how I can save those to disk?

Jar-Jar has never been funnier than in Ep4. :)

Well, I know there is a piece of software the will let you grab the flash file, but the easiest way (and the way I did it) is to go into your Temporary Internet Files folder and order by File Type. From there it should be pretty easy to find the flash file for the episode. Just look at the originating URL.

This might sound a little complicated, but it's like 3 mouse clicks easy.

BTW, everybody might want to check out Fucinet's The Critic Downloads, it'll make you smile. :)

If you want to save these flash movies,
right Click and Save Link As/Target As

Call me dense, but how the hell am I supposed to play these files outside of Internet Explorer?

Canis Firebrand 02-06-02 09:09 AM

FlashPla.exe will play it.

Player

Tesiae 02-06-02 11:39 AM

mmconhea: Okay, I went there but it tells me that Flash is already installed on my system. I try searching for FlashPla.exe in my system but I can't find it.

If you have a flash player already, then you should be able to view the swf files by simply left clicking twice on the file name.

A flash player window should open and the clip should start playing.

Tesiae 02-06-02 10:09 PM

AJW: Nope. Didn't work. For some reason, the swf files aren't associated with any program. And I can't seem to find the player anywhere on my system.

AJW 02-07-02 01:18 AM

Well you've got me stumped. FlashPla.exe is the application file name for the standalone player.

This file was located on my pc here:

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 5\Players

Do you have a Macromedia folder within your Program Files directory?

Tesiae 02-07-02 08:28 AM

Aj: Well I'll be damned. I don't have that directory. Hmm, I guess that I only have the plugin for Internet Explorer. Where can I get the actual player? The link included in this thread is only for the plugin.

AJW 02-07-02 10:39 AM

If you just want the standalone player, you can download it off my site

exe version (360 kb) or zipped version (180 kb)

You might want to save it to your desktop. When you want to view an swf file you've saved to your hard drive, just open the flash player and go to file -> open -> browse and select the flash movie clip you want to view.

Tesiae 02-07-02 12:02 PM

AJW: Today, you get a gold star buddy. Thanks!
