Buffy tv..What is the story on the pilot?...
 

I have never watched the show. I ordered the first season because I am interested in the show and I want to support tv on dvd. I have read that the pilot is not on the disc. Is this true? or is it a reshot pilot? I think it had something to do with Alyson Hannigans character. Can someone give me the scoop?

The "pilot" is like many pilots. It was used to sell the series, but it's not actually an episode. It has many of the same attributes as the first two episodes, "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "The Harvest." It's about 30 minutes long, has a different actress for Willow, different name for the school (Berryman), different sets for common locations, and some other stuff. Basically the same plotline though, just shorter and with some mild differences.

Enjoy the show. First season is a lot of set up. Seasons 2 and 3 are where it takes off.

It's not difficult to find a quadraseptazillionth-generation copy on the usual file sharing services. The lost pilot might be an interesting addition to a future box set or something, but there's nothing really compelling about it and nothing that warrants more than a viewing or two.

Ive seen the pilot. MY friend found it on a website and downloaded. Interesting because it is a different Willow but its basically the same One hour pilot that was shown but condensed.

By pilot they mean the little half hour segment used to sell the show.
