No 'Again' for 'Once'?
ABC yanks series for 7 weeks

Less than a week after a major executive shakeup, the new regime is shaking up ABC's prime-time lineup.

Susan Lyne, the newly named president of ABC Entertainment, pulled "Once and Again" from the network's schedule yesterday. The show will be off the air for seven weeks before returning Monday nights in March.

even though i don't watch this regularly, this sucks cause the few shows i have seen of it are really good.

The lead male on the show was on Rosie the other day and had commented that they were not doing so well and to please watch. I never really go into the show but I hope it comes back for the people who are fans. I hate when tv shows you love get canned.

Man - this bites! Once and Again is a FANTASTIC show - the actors are all superb - truly an ensemble cast. If ABC could figure out how to properly promote and schedule its great shows, maybe they would climb the ratings ladder.

This is really bad news. This is one of those "best shows that no one watches". I love this show. Great ensemble cast both young and old.

That usually means the network has given up when they pull it for that long. . . something is majorly wrong with ABC for one thing. They have not promoted ANY of the Zwick/Herskowitz series successfully ("Relativity", "My So-Called Life").

But I place the main blame on a TV audience who has no taste nor appreciation for quality. If the mentality of the audience is such that they would rather watch people eat worms, I dread what this means for the future of TV shows.

I'm SICK AND TIRED of my favorite shows pulling weak ratings and ultimately being cancelled. ("Big Apple", "EZ Streets". . .) I sometimes don't know why I even bother to become devoted to a show.

I LOVE "Once and Again" and have never missed an episode. It's beautifully written, acted, and so touching.

I would go so far as saying that this is the finest ensamble cast ever on TV (and I've been a TV addict for 47 years). There isn't one person in that cast, from youngest to oldest, that does not give a believable, subtle performance. Unusual in a day of real over the top acting.

Sadly the signs for this series demise were there.
Different days and even different time slots of late.

It's not a reality show, game show or has the word Law in it.
Its pretty much over. With so many throw away shows today.
I am not really surprised. Just disappointed.

The dumbing of America continues......

Yes, the dumbing down continues.

Too many cops, lawyers and doctors.

Even though I'm a huge fan of Once and Again I am really surprised that it stayed on the air this long.

The only obvious reason being that it was a truly great show with an out-of-this-world cast and ABC didn't want to pull another plug on one of its terrific shows (ie. Sports Night).

I hope they are at least gonna bring it back for the remainder to try and get syndication.

Hell, they moved it to 8:00 (9 eastern) to get it out of Barbara's way so I thought it was in clear for a bit. (Since "Thieves was canceled).

Shows like this don't come along very often.
Anybody can do a crime drama or whatever.

When they put Once and Again back on, it is returning to Mondays @ 10pm. Thats what they just said on the Rosie O'Donnell Show (guest is Shane West, I don't know who he plays on the show though).

This is a great show. I haven't caught many episodes lately with all the moving around though.

This is bad news, the show is most certainly dead. True it did okay last year at 10PM, but it can't come back from Friday night and expect to take back all its viewers.
Certainly not with the fine job of promoting the show that ABC has been doing this year. That change to 9PM came outta nowhere.

C'mon ABC, cancel the show so that you can erase the last hour of TV viewing I actually give your network.

I would still give it a fighting shot to make it to a fourth season, the magical one needed for syndication...this is a Touchstone show, right? Would be perfect for Lifetime every day... Anyone who couldn't have predicted moving the show around and not promoting it would do awful things to its ratings is naive or dumb.

How true this is. I used to watch ABC a lot, but not anymore. My wife watches daytime, but at night it's Once & Again and, occassionally, 20/20 and that is it. Amazingly, the two networks I watch the most now are stodgy CBS and young-folk friendly WB.

This just sucks. Sometimes I wonder why people even make good shows when the audience is made up of idiots. Yay America! Go back to the mind-numbingly stupid shows that sit atop the ratings.

Shane West plays Rick and Karen's son, Eli (the one that got fired recently, didn't tell his parents, been smoking pot in the interim until he got busted by Rick, who came home early one day. When Karen found up, she threw him out of her house.

Shane's out promoting some movie he did with Mandy Moore that opening up soon.
