the chamber
ok i was just flipping channels and i stopped on this for one contestant's worth. it may be just me, but any show where you have to sign a medical release before you play i think has some problems, but i could be wrong. anybody else have any thoughts on this?
|
Pretty messed up show. I guess they're putting it in this timeslot during the playoffs so people might watch it. My guess is that it will be off the air by the time they put the Simpsons back on.
|
I watched most of it. thought it was alright
there is another show almost the same on ABC called "The Chair". BTW Simpsons was on, They showed re-runs at 7:00 and 7:30 |
This show is just a few steps away from being the real life "Running Man" gameshow.
|
This show is pretty bad, but there's nothing else on, so I'm watching it. Pretty cheap show too - you either win big or lose. If somehow you make it through, they triple your winnings, but chances are, you'll lose and they'll cut your winnings in half.
As for signing the medical release, that's nothing to worry about - it's just the fact that they do it during the show that's confused some people I guess. Before any show that requires physical exertion, they'd require a release - you just never see them sign it because they do it beforehand. I'm sure on Fear Factor, Survivor, The Mole, etc., everyone's signed medical releases. |
i've seen 3 contestants now. is it just fire and ice? this could get old pretty fast. i'm already getting a bit bored. the host is pretty lame, "the doctors say you're ok to continue!" and it seems like the contestants are having some problems hearing questions while getting slammed in the face with water and 150 mph blasts of air. imagine that.
|
Yawn ... I haven't been so bored watching something in a long time. The "medical release" is a lame ploy to make the audience thing it's worse than it is. The premise could be interesting, but the host reminds me of those doped up guys from "Encounter at Farpoint." Borrrrrrrring.
This is the kind of thing that might make an interesting one-time event or halftime special or something, but there wasn't enough variety to fill 60 minutes. How on Earth can they sustain a whole series, even if it's just six episodes, or whatever their contract is? I'll probably watch the chair just to see McEnroe, but it's pathetic the level of television we've been exposed to recently. das |
I can't believe they screwed up the Sunday night line up for such a dumb show. I watched the first guy go into the chamber, that was all I could stand. :(
|
They should start blind-folding the contestants, just to spice it up. ;)
|
What a cheesey show. The whole bit with "I have to check with our doctors if it's okay for you to continue" was lame, lame, lame.
For all potential contestants, just sit out in a cold car reading Trivial Pursuit cards. |
The true test of will for these contestants is fighting the mindnumbing boredom. They should have a gameshow where you sit and watch The Chamber for 15 minutes. The last person to go catatonic wins.
das |
I thought this was pretty dumb. Although I must say, I'd rather face 150 degrees in my boxers than -10 in a sportsbra. I think the woman got the raw end of the deal, there.
Although it sure was funny to watch her get sprayed in the face with water. Almost like the 3 Stooges! :) |
I personally can't wait till the networks get so bad that the term "sudden death" really means a player is gonna get killed for answering a question wrong. :p
the show was horrorable. Whats the next low for fox to hit? |
I must admit, I would watch a celebrity version of this show. :)
|
This show is suckekeke. I have no other comentary than that.
|
Series 7: The Contenders is starting to look more realistic after this :)
Or how about that Japanese game show skit on SNL where contestants lose fingers for wrong questions? |

why have a chair or chamber? It'd be a much better show if they would just have some hired goons beat the crap out of contestants when they answer a question wrong. Imagine the look on a guy's face when he knows he doesn't know the answer and Bruno is cracking his knuckles and slowly walking towards him.

How cold does that thing get? Does it really only hit -10F ?
****, i'll do that all day long. Someone find me an application form ... I'll even sing showtunes in between questions. I knew 5 years of playing ultimate frisbee in blizzards, hail, and sleet would pay off. |

I bet it's the other crap they do that hurts, like whatever's poking them in the back and shooting water in their face. das |

The show got very boring, very quick. Some of the contestants lost out cause they couldn't hear the questions, what kind of crap is that, thats just cheating.
10 below wouldn't be all that bad if you had clothes on. I doubt that air cannon things signficantly adds any wind chill effect. It would be uncomfortable, but not dangerous (well six minutes worth isn't dangerous.) |
I didn't watch this and I don't plan to watch the chair. Sounds like it was exactly what the commercials made it look like it was going to be.
I'll be interested to see how these shows do in the ratings. It'll be a testament to whether viewers are as mindless as the networks think they are. |
