A lot of the proposed "strange ideas" are really variations on the same genre.
What do these shows have in common? Mr. Ed My Favorite Martian I Dream of Jeannie Bewitched Alf Mork and Mindy Living Doll |
'Whoops! Apacolypse"' was my first thought along with 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' (Shoot someone into space and watch cheesy movies) ... 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' is pretty weird though

Re: TV's Weirdest Premises
Herman's Head gave me a crazy flashback when FOX sitcoms were basically anything someone came up with on a bet.

I win.
"Apple Pie" 1978 Set in depression-era Kansas City, this comedy was based around a single hairdresser's unique approach to curing her lonliness: She put an ad in the newspaper and recruited the folks who met her criteria to be her new family. Filling the new positions were con-artist husband Eddie, a non-stop tap-dancing daughter Anna-Marie, a son known only as 'Junior' who thinks he's a bird, and an elderly grandfather who barely moves. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iG_pO9QVZnk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iG_pO9QVZnk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |

Oh, and "The Second Hundred Years" (1967 - 1968)
Prospector Luke Carpenter was frozen in suspended animation in the year 1900 while panning for gold in Alaska. He was successfully thawed and returned home perfectly preserved at 33 years of age and a dead ringer for his 33-year-old grandson Ken. Luke moves in with his 67-year-old son Edwin, and tries to adjust to normal life while keeping his exact identity a secret. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8z371Qz1biA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8z371Qz1biA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |
Re: TV's Weirdest Premises
This one was pretty funny considering the minds it came out of.

Re: TV's Weirdest Premises
How about The People from 1972 Starring William Shatner. It's just your basic Amish Extraterrestrials story.
A young woman is assigned to teach school in a secluded valley whose inhabitants appear stern, secretive and anti-pleasure. Following two children who disappear to play in the woods, she finds that this is actually a community of extraterrestrials with mild paranormal powers who are attempting to repress and deny their heritage for fear of arousing prejudice and hatred in their human neighbors. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/F1JLeB99FlI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/F1JLeB99FlI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |

I always thought THE COSBY SHOW was kind of weird. You have a pediatrician married to a lawyer both of whom never take their work home, show any signs of stress from two highly stressful jobs and have time to just hang out all day.
