BABYLON 5 Returns! New TV Movie/Pilot on Saturday, 1/19!
Babylon 5: Legend Of The Rangers will air on the Sci-Fi Channel Saturday January 19th at 9pm E/P, 8pm C/M.
This picks up 2 years after the last regular episode of Babylon 5, and about 1 1/2 years after the events in Crusade. Babylon 5 regular G'Kar is a featured character in the new movie, and if the series gets picked up he may be on that show as well.
For any fan of well written, classy Science Fiction television this is GREAT news!

And F-ing ATT Broadband/Cable decided to move the Sci-Fi channel off the basic cable feed, an requiring people to get on the digital cable box bandwagon to get the sci-fi channel (and who know what else in the near future). ARGH!

Little correction it takes place after "Objects at rest" and in the year 2264. This is before crusade. I'm sure Das will add more insight.

Ooops. You are correct. I misread that. It's 2 1/2 years after objects at rest, and 2 1/2 years before Crusade.
I only read part of the article in the new SciFi magazine, and misread that line.
But regardless, it's great to have Babylon 5 back - even in a new form with new characters. Crusade had some great episodes, and I'm expecting good stuff from Legend Of The Rangers.

Is this talk of a series just wishfull thinking, or is something coming up?

Talk of a series is legit - but nothing concrete.
When they first announced this TV movie they said it COULD be used as a pilot for a possible series. They've never backed off from that, but they've never said much more either.
JMS assembled a new cast like he would have for a series, so that's a clue...
I think that they are just waiting to see what kind of ratings it (the movie) gets.

Hey, I liked Crusade.... especially the episodes that were produced first and aired last. It was TNT's mucking around that doomed the series.

The "prequel" episodes for Crusade were OK, but the ones produced BEFORE TNT interfered were outstanding! As good as B5's best.
I'll have my VCR running on the 19th. (It could be a long time to wait for a DVD on the new movie - if it ever happens at all.)
By the way-
BUY THE BABYLON 5 DVD!!!
and if by some miracle WB actually puts out a season 1 set - BUY THAT TOO!!
I want seasons 2-4 on DVD REALLY badly. (Seasons 1 & 5 would just be icing on the cake.)
